Give A Wedding Anniversary Reception

Play the couple's first dance song when they take the floor.

A wedding anniversary is a major milestone for any couple, whether it's the first or the 50th. A reception is a chance for all the people closest to the couple to gather together and celebrate their commitment to each other. While it's perfectly acceptable for a couple to organize their own party, most couples will be touched and honored if someone else steps up to organize the party for them. Let them create their own guest list, then take over the reins and keep the rest of the plans a secret.

Instructions

1. Choose a venue. If you're aiming to throw an intimate reception for the couple's closest family and friends, hold the party at your home. For a bigger celebration, rent a local restaurant or small banquet hall. If the anniversary is major milestone like the 50th and the couple lives near where the place where they were married, rent out the hall where the couple held their wedding reception.

2. Send out invitations. While it isn't proper etiquette to specifically ask for gifts in the invitation, you can stress that gifts are not required if that's what the couple wants. If they're happy to accept gifts, make no mention of them. Some guests may decide to bring gifts, while others may not.

3. Order food that mimics the food the couple served at their wedding reception. The dishes don't need to follow the same recipes to make the couple feel nostalgic.

4. Bring a photo of the couple's original wedding cake to a baker. Ask her to replicate the design onto a smaller cake.

5. Ask a few of the couple's closest friends and family members to make toasts at the reception. They'll appreciate having as much advance notice as possible so they have time to write their toasts. Two or three speeches are plenty.

6. Decorate the reception space with the couple's wedding mementos. Blow up some wedding photos to place on easels throughout the room, and borrow a copy of the wedding video to project onto a screen.

7. Create a gift for the couple that all the guests can contribute to. Place a photo of the couple in a large paper frame that guests can sign, or set out squares of cloth and fabric pens. Each guest can decorate one square with a message for the couple. After the reception, arrange for the squares to be sewn into a quilt.

Give A Duckthemed 1st Birthday Party

Finding an appropriate theme for a child's first birthday can be a challenge. So many party supplies are geared toward older children, or don't lend themselves to fun games like something cute like ducks do. Another advantage to using ducks as a theme is that you can always find products in a bright "duck-like" yellow, so it's easy to stick with the theme no matter what. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Duck Themed First Birthday

1. Start with duck shaped invitations. Buy them (see Resources) or create them with construction paper and markers. Use duck stickers to seal the envelopes.

2. Decorate with ducks. Buy duck themed decorations (see Resources) or use yellow, orange and blue. Use streamers by twisting strands from the corner of your table to the light fixture and attaching them with tape. Draw ducks onto a white paper tablecloth to use on the table. Make a happy birthday banner. Blow up yellow balloons and tie on white ribbons.

3. Play duck games. This will work if you have older children at the party, or adults who have had a few glasses of wine. Instead of the old stand-by "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," try "Pin the Bill on the Duck." Or play "Duck, Duck, Goose."

4. Make a pond scene. If you have preschool and elementary school aged kids coming, you can let them do this as an activity. Hang the other white tablecloth on the wall. Cut the green construction paper for grass and leaves, the yellow into ducks, the blue for a pond and the brown for trees. Glue them onto the tablecloth to make a mural.

5. Create favor bags. Use yellow bags or bags with ducks on them. Include rubber ducks, duck chocolates and duck stickers (see Resources).

6. Look for duck treats. You can buy a duck shaped pinata, or ask your local bakery to decorate a cake with ducks. Or use yellow frosting on homemade cupcakes.

7. Read "Ten Rubber Ducks" by Eric Carle. This story about floating rubber ducks is really sweet. Afterward, allow children to play with rubber ducks in a water table or in the sink.

Get The Textured Bedhead Look

Get the Textured Bedhead Look

The "just out of bed" tousled hairdo is popular among celebrities and ordinary people alike. It's a casual look for both men and women that many people find to be sexy and appealing. However, while it might look effortless, achieving the bedhead look requires a bit more attention than simply waking up in the morning. With a bit of time and the right styling techniques, the bedhead look is attainable for most of those who want it. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Apply hair texturizer to wet or damp hair. Concentrate the product at the roots, then work it through the length of the hair. This mimics the slightly dirty state that allows hair to retain its tousled appearance.

2. Scrunch hair. Use your fingers to separate chunks of hair. Or pin long hair up into a single loose bun. Allow hair to air dry or blow dry with diffuser.

3. Spray hair spray on finished style. Spray all over to fix style in place. Spray extra hair spray on hands and rub onto ends of hair for extra staying power.

Get The Black Suit In Wii'S "Swordplay"

The Swordplay mini-game in Wii Sports Resort turns your Wii remote into a trusty sword and pits you against the computer player or your friends in traditional sword fighting. Within the Swordplay mini-game you can also unlock different modes, swords and outfits, including the Black Suit, also known as the Samurai Armor. Unlocking this puts samurai armor on your Mii when you play the game to show other players that you are a true Swordplay pro. But getting this armor is a challenge since you must defeat the computer-controlled champion in the "Duel," "Speed Slice" and "Showdown" game modes.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Nintendo Wii by pressing the power button. Select "Wii Sports Resort" from the Wii menu.

2. Press the "A" and the "B" buttons on your controller at the same time to bring up the game selection menu. Find and select the "Swordplay" game by pressing the "A" button while the game's picture is highlighted.

3. Select your desired mode by pressing the "A" button while the picture for this mode is highlighted. Choose the single-player option, your Mii and your desired difficulty level.

4. Play this mode until you have earned at least 1,500 skill points within it. This requires you to consistently win the game, play efficiently and take only a few -- if any -- hits while playing.

5. Play your selected mode again. The champion automatically appears when the game begins. Defeat this champion.

6. Begin a game in your selected mode of Swordplay. You are now wearing the Black Suit. Work your way to, and defeat, the champion in the remaining two modes to unlock this armor in them as well.

Get The Best Edge On A Knife

When you purchase a knife, whether it be a kitchen knife or a pocketknife, the blade is at its optimal sharpness. However, after a few uses the blade becomes dull and can hinder your ability to cut objects. Because knives can become dull so easily it is important to keep your knives sharp and give them the sharpest edges possible without weakening them.

Instructions

1. Purchase a knife that is only made of stainless steel (if you haven't bought the knife yet). This will help prevent rust and the knife will hold up better for sharpening.

2. Cut only objects that are meant to be cut with the particular knife. Kitchen knives are to be used with food, while hunting knives are used for small branches and animals. Using the knife as a saw or to cut stronger objects will weaken and dull the knife quickly.

3. Sharpen your kitchen knives on a sharpener. These are long metal poles that typically come with a knife set. Hold the blade still and at a downward angle (keeping the blade facing the floor) and scrape the sharpener away from you along the edge of the blade. Do not rub back and forth because this will dull the blade further. Do this every few weeks to keep your kitchen knives in top shape.

4. Take your hunting or pocketknife to a professional. If you bought your knife from a knife store or Armour, they can typically sharpen the knife for you. If you would rather sharpen the knife yourself, use an Indian stone and scrape it across the blade at an angle to sharpen the blade. You should only have to sharpen a hunting or pocketknife every couple of years.

Get The Best Disney World Deals

You can save at Walt Disney World by looking for deals.

Walt Disney World in Florida stands as the most popular theme park in the world. It actually consists of four separate theme parks, as well as water parks, golf courses, campgrounds and a shopping district. The cost of a trip there can get quite high, especially when you factor in travel and hotel costs. A little bargain hunting can go a long way when looking for Disney World deals.

Instructions

1. Determine how many days you want to visit Disney World. If you know exactly how long you wish to stay, you can select a package deal that suits you.

2. Go online to the Disney World home page and check specific deals. Their basic ticket deal is "Magic Your Way," which allows you to buy tickets good for multiple days at a discount. You can visit one of the four theme parks each day, and enter or leave that park as many times as you want. If you want to jump between parks each day, you can add a Park Hopper option to the ticket. Similar discounts include annual passes, local resident discounts and "free admission on your birthday" discounts. Disney varies such deals, so check availability on the dates you wish to travel.

3. Look for discounts that apply to your specific demographic. Disney often offers deals on tickets to U.S. military personnel, conventioneers in Orlando, AAA members and employees of companies that sponsor Disney attractions in the park.

4. Consider camping at Fort Wilderness instead of staying at a Disney World hotel. Fort Wilderness is Disney World's official campground, with spaces for RVs and tents, as well as cabins that can sleep up to six people. If you don't mind "roughing it," the prices run much lower than rooms at Disney resorts; cabins include a full kitchen, allowing you to prepare your own meals. Though decidedly rustic, Fort Wilderness offers a number of fun amenities, including walking trails and a nightly sing-along under the stars.

5. Check sites such as Orbitz.com and Hotels.com for discounts on off-site Orlando hotels. If you don't stay in an official Disney resort, the cost of hotel rooms drops tremendously. Look for hotels offering service to the parks if you don't wish to drive. Orbitz also covers airfare listing, letting you look for deals on flights.

Get Stains Off Of Dentures

Get Stains Off of Dentures

Like regular teeth, your dentures must be cleaned and rinsed daily to remove food particles and prevent stains from drinks, food or nicotine. But dentures need special cleaners that differ from regular toothpaste. Modern dentures are made of plastic, porcelain and acrylic. These materials are porous and tend to be easily stained by regular foods, which is why you must be vigilant about removing stains.

Instructions

1. Rinse your dentures with water after every meal or drink to keep particles from settling on them and staining.

2. Clean your dentures twice a day with a denture brush and denture cleaner. If your denture kit didn't include a denture brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush. Anything else might scratch the surface of the dentures. You can also use dishwashing liquid or a mild soap in place of denture cleaner. Squirt out a small bit of soap or cleaner onto your brush, wet it with warm water and scrub the dentures, concentrating on areas between the teeth and on visible food particles.

3. Soak your dentures every night. Place one effervescent soaking tablet in a glass of water (the amount of water may vary depending in the brand of denture soak), and allow the dentures to sit in the solution all night. If your dentures have metal attachments, make sure your dental soak doesn't contain chlorine, as it could tarnish the metal. In the morning, rinse your dentures thoroughly with water before placing them in your mouth.

4. Soak your dentures in a vinegar and baking soda solution once a month to get rid of hard-to-remove stains. Mix together 1 cup of vinegar and 1 tbsp. of baking soda. Allow the dentures to soak in the mixture for five minutes. Add more vinegar if necessary to make sure the liquid completely covers your dentures. Remove the dentures and scrub with a denture brush. Rinse in warm water.

Get Seniors Interested In Life

A senior citizen may desire to feel useful or needed to regain a zest for life.

Many senior citizens lose interest in life at this stage in their lives. Some are retired or suffer from bad health. They may have grown children who are busy with their own lives and rarely seem to have time for them. This feeling of not being needed or necessary can cause symptoms of depression or feelings of despair. The senior may withdraw from normal activities, stop caring about personal hygiene, refuse to attend family gatherings or feel hopeless. Getting a senior citizen interested in life again may seem a daunting task, but it is possible.

Instructions

1. Set up an appointment for the elderly person to receive a complete physical and accompany him to the visit. Advise the doctor before the exam of the senior's disinterest in life. The doctor will look for signs of depression or other medical conditions that may cause the indifference. If antidepressants are prescribed, a renewed zest for life and an increase in energy often follow.

2. Respect the senior citizen's feelings and viewpoints when discussing the apathy. While his views may seem invalid to you, he has a right to his own opinion. He has lived a long life and experienced many events that shape his personality and thought patterns.

3. Tell the senior citizen that his happiness and well-being is foremost in your thoughts. Reassure him that you are not trying to pry into his life but you truly care and are concerned about him.

4. Ask the senior to help you think of activities that would interest him. Be armed with plenty of suggestions from local senior citizen centers, his physician and others who love him.

5. Transport him to the activity or volunteer to tag along for moral support. Even at his advanced age, he may still feel anxious about going to an activity or joining in a group by himself. Volunteer to pick up one of his friends along the way or arrange to have someone else take him that will join in.

6. Ask senior citizens to help you with a project in which they have skills. For instance, if the senior is a woman, ask her to teach you to quilt or crochet. If she is able to babysit, ask her to take care of your child while you are running errands for her. Many seniors no longer feel useful or needed and this can be depressing for them.

7. Hire a companion to spend time with the senior citizen. This is an excellent way to fill the long hours of solitude with conversation, card games or simply another person with whom to watch TV. It also provides relief for him to know if he falls or needs assistance that someone is there and he won't be alone.

Get Rid Of Coffee Stains From Dentures

Proper cleaning minimizes coffee stains on dentures.

Dentures are made of a type of plastic and thus are more prone to staining than the natural enamel of teeth. Coffee stains can make dentures look old and unsightly. Coffee stains on dentures can not be eliminated completely at home, but effective stain-removal methods exist for minimizing coffee stains on dentures. For the more stubborn coffee stains, see your dentist for a cleaning.

Instructions

1. Remove all food particles from your dentures. Food particles contribute to further staining. Use a small to medium-headed toothbrush with an angled head and soft bristles. The soft bristles are safe on your gums and soft tissue. Brush in a circular motion with particular attention to between the teeth. Floss with a gentle downward motion taking care to not jerk the floss out from between your teeth.

2. Brush and soak with over-the-counter denture pastes and solutions that do not contain bleach. Bleach harms the lining of your gums and soft tissue. Use products with the ADA seal of approval on the label. Do not use extremely hot water to clean your dentures as the heat will harm the metal supports in your dentures.

3. Every day, follow a regime of brushing, then soaking, then brushing. Household cleaners such as mild detergents are safe to use in a pinch, but avoid powdered cleaning products, which scratch the dentures.

4. For more stubborn stains, see your dentist. Many dentists use an ultrasonic cleaning chamber filled with a solution. Sonic cleaning products are available for purchase. Ask your dentist about home use.

Get Rid Of Black Mold

Get Rid of Black Mold

Black mold, or Stachybotrys chartarum, is a dark greenish or black mold that grows in damp, poorly ventilated indoor environments, often occurring after flooding. While it can be eliminated, it often grows undetected for long periods, thus making its eradication more difficult. However, the dangers of its spores entering the air and causing a host of respiratory conditions warrant a full examination of all the nooks and crannies in which it may thrive and killing it at the source. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Don a face mask and gloves. Since the spores are particularly unhealthy for your lungs, don't begin any cleanup task until you're protected. Proper ventilation throughout the process is also important. Use an exhaust fan vented outside so that any escaping mold spores go outside.

2. Look beyond the mold you can see. Before you can eliminate mold, you need to find not only what is readily visible, but also what may be hidden. This involves getting down on your hands and knees, bellying into crawl spaces, pulling up rugs and maybe even pulling away old drywall.

3. Find the water. Unless you eliminate the cause of the mold--water and moisture--any efforts you make to remove it will be for naught. If you have a recurring water problem, you may need to find a plumber or landscaper to assess your property. Whether it's a leaking pipe or an improperly graded lawn, remedies are available. If it's merely a moist basement in April, run a dehumidifier. A moisture meter will determine the level of moisture in your air; you want a reading below 50 percent.

4. Seal off the mold-infected area from the rest of your house. If you're working in an area without a door, use plastic sheeting and duct tape to keep mold spores from traveling to other rooms. Keep the exhaust fan vented out.

5. Remove affected fabric, rugs and even drywall if necessary. If the walls have mold only on the surfaces, a good cleaning and repainting will probably be sufficient. However, if the walls are so saturated with moisture that they're pliable to the touch, you'll need to replace the affected sections.

6. Make a cleaning solution of 1 gallon water, 1 cup bleach and 2 tbsp. laundry detergent. Use it in a spray bottle or in a bucket with a rag. If you opt for the bucket, change the solution frequently. Wash the affected areas thoroughly, scrubbing when necessary. For tough stains, use a mild bleach-based scrubbing product such as Soft Scrub. Never use ammonia-based products with bleach.

7. Rinse the area. Towel it dry, and then allow it to dry fully.

8. Paint affected walls and ceilings with Kilz primer. Allow them to dry.

9. Paint over the primer and allow it to dry.

10. Run a dehumidifier when necessary. Maintain the area's humidity level at below 50 percent, and be on the lookout for recurring mold.

You may be furthered stressed by the appearance of bags, in turn making them worse. There are ways to treat bags with cosmetic procedures which are expensive. Alternately, there are things you can do at home to help treat and prevent black bags under your eyes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

General Care

1. Get a good night's sleep. Lack of sleep can cause black bags to develop. Ensure that you are getting a full six to eight hours sleep a night. If you find that you are restless at night or experiencing insomnia, talk to your doctor. Also try white noise such as a fan or an eye mask to help you relax at night.

2. Release stress and tension. These can cause the bags to become worse. If you are experiencing difficult times, talk to someone about it instead of keeping it inside. Take time for yourself during the day to relax. Take a walk, listen to your favorite song, or read a magazine or whatever you use for stress relief.

3. Visit your doctor. You may be experiencing allergies making the bags worse.

Tea Bags

4. Soak two tea bags in a cup of hot water for five minutes. You can use green or black tea.

5. Remove the tea bags from the cup and place them on a plate to cool for 10 minutes or until the bags are cool.

Cold Spoons

8. Place two metal tablespoons in the freezer before you go to bed at night.

12. Place the cucumber slices in the refrigerator for a minimum of one hour to get them cold.

13. Place the cucumber slices on your eyes and leave them for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat the process two to three times a week.

Get Property In Your Name After Your Parent Died

When your parent dies, it may be necessary to get property she might have owned into your name. This is a relatively simple process, but regardless of what your parent's will says, you must change the property title to your name by working with the estate executor and other professionals, like an attorney and your parent's mortgage lender.

Instructions

1. Determine whether there is a mortgage on the property. Under the Garn-St. Germain Depository Institutions Act of 1982, as a child of the deceased, you are exempt from having to pay the mortgage in full, but still will have to continue paying the mortgage payments once you have the title to the property.

2. Figure out who is acting as the executor for you parent's estate.

3. Review your parent's will to see if the property was gifted to you.

4. Talk to the executor, and express your interest in having the title to the property in your name. Even if your parent willed the property to you, the executor must execute the estate according to probate law, which sometimes means the executor is legally obligated to sell the property to handle outstanding debts. Even if the executor must do this, you have the right to buy the property from the estate.

5. Purchase the house from the estate if necessary. This may require applying for financing, and if the property is mortgaged, you should contact the mortgage lender to indicate that you'd like to pay off the loan or take over payments.

6. Obtain, fill out and file a quitclaim deed with the help of the executor and a competent attorney. The quitclaim deed is a document that indicates a person is giving up his right to the property -- in many cases, the executor gives up this right on behalf of the deceased, but if someone else still has a right to the property because they are on the title, such as your surviving parent, he must fill out the form with you. You typically need a record of the death certificate to file a quitclaim deed if your parent was the only one on the title.

Create & Print Free Party Flyers

Creating and printing your own party flyers is an inexpensive way to invite guests to your party. Design party flyers on a free word processing program and use your home printer to create quality flyers. Create and design free party flyers by using materials that you already own. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Create and Design the Flyers

1. Pick a theme for your flyer and the party. Once you pick a theme for the flyer, it will be easier to create the design.

2. Decide on the size of your flyer. Typical flyers are 8.5 x 11 inches, which is the typical size of printer paper.

3. Open up a word processing program such as Microsoft Word. Most computers contain a free word processor. Once you open the word processor, choose to create a new document with the paper dimensions you decided on.

4. Find images to place on your flyers. Choose images that are appropriate for your theme. Typically, flyers have a clear main message. Focus on basing your pictures on your flyer's theme.

5. Include important information on the flyers. Flyers created for parties contain general information. It is important to ensure that the information is accurate. Add the date, time and location of your party on the flyer. Place your contact information so it is printed clearly and use font that is legible.

Print the Party Flyers

6. Use quality paper for your flyers. The quality of the paper will influence the flyer's design.

7. Decide if you want the flyers to be in full color or black and white. Ensure that you have an appropriate amount of ink for the number of flyers you need to print. Creating the flyers in color and printing them in black ink will change the flyer's appearance.

8. Select print preview from the flyer menu. Check to see if the flyer fits inside the printer margins. Make any necessary changes.

9. Choose the paper quality and size in the file menu under the printer options. Select the right printer options and prepare to print the flyers.

10. Use scrap paper to test-print your flyer. This will allow you to make any changes to the flyers without wasting higher-quality paper that you purchased. Once the flyers print, place the paper into the printer's paper tray. When you select to print the flyers, enter the quantity of flyers you desire and watch the printer in case of a paper jam.

Get Merchants To Donate Goods For Your Fundraiser

Gift sets allow merchants to showcase a variety of products.

Fundraising is an essential, but sometimes overwhelming reality for non-profit organizations and charities. Many fundraisers, including silent auctions and raffles, depend heavily on securing donated goods. To successfully persuade store owners to donate goods for your fundraiser, you should implement strategic fundraising principles. For example, when soliciting for donations, it is important to effectively communicate your organization's cause to garner support. To increase the likelihood of receiving donated goods, target specific merchants and offer incentives for those who donate merchandise.

Instructions

Make your case

1. Write a brief statement explaining the purpose and goals of your organization. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the case for support is the keystone of fundraising efforts. Once completed, you will use your case for support to persuade store owners to donate merchandise.

2. Develop a list of reasons merchants should want to donate goods for your fundraiser. Your list will illustrate how the money raised during your fundraiser will directly impact your organization's ability to reach its goals. Give specific examples and provide relevant statistics.

3. Create a list of incentives available to merchants donating goods to your fundraiser. For instance, offer free advertising in fundraiser promotions or provide donating merchants complimentary admission to your fundraiser. Considering the needs of your donors is important and may help attract more donors, according to "Fundraising Management: Analysis, Planning and Practice," by Adrian Sargeant and Elaine Jay.

Get donations

4. Identify potential donors using your local telephone book or online business directory. Search for merchants selling goods that complement your organization's mission. For example, an organization supporting the arts will add merchants selling music, instruments and art supplies. Also, target well-established merchants in your community. These merchants are likely members of your chamber of commerce and are often very civic-minded.

5. Write a donation request letter. Include your case for support and provide information about your fundraiser. Describe how the funds raised will help your organization accomplish its goals. Respectfully ask the merchant to donate goods for your fundraiser and describe available incentives. Include contact and delivery or pickup information. Mail your donation request three to six months prior to your fundraiser.

6. Visit or call merchants two to three months prior to your fundraiser to follow up with those merchants not already donating. Always be courteous, direct and brief. Ask store owners to consider donating goods and offer a value range. Making a specific request, as opposed to just asking for help, is a more effective approach to soliciting donations, according to "The Ask: Ask Anyone for Any Amount for Any Purpose," by Laura Fredricks.

7. Write thank-you notes to merchants for every donation received. This small gesture will show your appreciation, enhance your relationships with merchants and lay the foundation for your next request for donated goods.

Get Hired At Walmart

Wal-Mart is one of the largest employers in the world. With employees in every state in the United States and in dozens of countries, the company has thousands of employees. Getting hired at Wal-Mart is not always easy, however. Here's what to keep in mind.

Instructions

1. Apply in person. Nearly every Wal-Mart in the world has an automated application kiosk, where prospective employees must apply. These kiosks look like computers on a small desk, with a chair in front of them. Most of these are located at the front of the store, in the customer service area, or in the back of the store by the store rooms. If you don't see the kiosk at the customer service area, ask one of the customer service employees where you can apply for a position.

2. Fill out the application entirely. Don't leave anything blank. In the section that asks for references, put the names of responsible adults with working phone numbers. If you're a teen with no work experience, use the names and phone numbers of neighbors or teachers. Before you apply, ask your references if you can use them on your application.

3. Use proper English and grammar on your application. Stay away from slang, and make sure that you've spelled everything properly.

4. Make sure that your phone bills are paid and up to date. You don't want to miss an important call from the hiring manager wanting to schedule an interview.

5. Speak clearly and use proper grammar when you are called to schedule an interview. This means not using words like, "Hey," and "Yeah." Speak respectfully. Even though you haven't met the manager face-to-face yet, your interviewing process begins from the moment you first open your mouth on the telephone. Your first impression will stay with the interviewer and will affect his impression of you throughout the interview.

6. Shower before your interview. Gentlemen should be clean shaven. Dress casually, but nicely. Women should wear a skirt or slacks, and men should wear khakis and a button-down shirt.

7. Arrive to your interview early. You want to show your future employer that you are eager and can be punctual.

8. Speak clearly and look the interviewer in the eye. Answer her or his questions directly, without too many "Uh" or "Um" sounds between your words. Again, user proper grammar, not slang.

9. Add something at the end. Nearly every interviewer ends the interview by asking, "Would you like to add anything?" Set yourself apart from the other people who were interviewed for the job by add ing something such as, "I'd just like to say that I know I can do this job, and do it well. I'm a hard worker, and I know I won't disappoint you if you decide to hire me."

10. End the interview by shaking the interviewer's hand, and thanking him. Look him directly in the eye.

11. Send a thank-you note the following day. Before you leave, stop at the customer service department to ask for the store's mailing address. When you get home, write a brief thank-you note to the manager, thanking her for her time and the experience. Close by saying you look forward to hearing from her soon. Sign it, "Respectfully," and sign your name. The next morning, mail it to the address you were given.

Get From Maui To Kona On The Big Island

Hawaii is a group of 132 atolls and islands that's 3,860 kilometers away from mainland USA. Its eight main islands include Hawaii or Big Island, Kauai, Molokai, Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Niihau and Kahoolawe. Kahoolawe is the only uninhabited island, while Niihau is privately owned by the Robinson Family. As the islands extend to about 2,400 kilometers from end to end, the longest inter-island travel sometimes takes up to 45 minutes. This guide shows you the ways you can travel from Maui to Kona on the Big Island.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Search for flights from Maui to the Big Island on the Internet. You can check out Hawaiian Airlines at hawaiianair.com and Mesa Airlines at iflygo.com for flight schedules, availability and rates for all inter-island travels. These carriers have regular flights not only from Maui to Kona on the Big Island but to other islands as well.

2. Go for commuter airlines. These airlines use small prop planes and puddle planes, and therefore do not use the airport's main terminal. This means no queuing for security checks, less hassle, and and saving a lot of time in travel. You can check out Island Air islandair.com, Pacific Wings at pacificwings.com, and Mokulele Airlines at mokuleleairlines.com

3. Book your flight. After booking, check the details of your travel ticket. Maui has two airports in Kahului and Kapalua. It might be farther that you expect it would be, so make sure you are heading to the right one. Meanwhile, Kona has one international airport.

4. Get to the airport early. It is recommended that you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your scheduled flight because you will have to go through a lot of inspection and security. This is especially true for flights that use the airport's terminals.

5. Try to get to Kona from Maui by sea. A great way to explore the islands of Hawaii, as well as the nearby Fanning Island and Republic of Kiribati, is via cruise. Cruises are available through Norwegian Cruise Lines, the sole cruise line that goes around the Hawaiian Islands. It operates year-round and can be contacted at 800-327-7030 or ncl.com.

Get A Typewriter Ribbon To Move When Typing

Getting the ribbon on a typewriter to work again

The typewriter ribbon in most machines is structured to advance automatically when you are typing. However, there are times when the ribbon might not advance correctly. The ribbon-advance mechanism could be blocked somehow by foreign objects or debris. The ribbon could be too loose or too tight to advance correctly. Or the ribbon cartridge itself could be defective so that it needs to be replaced. With some basic troubleshooting steps, you can usually get the typewriter ribbon to advance again. If not, you may need the services of a professional repair person.

Check that there is no debris behind the ribbon guide that holds the ribbon against the platen. Look for and remove any other foreign objects that could have prevented the ribbon from advancing properly.

3. Inspect the ribbon cartridge closely. Loosen the ribbon using the winding mechanism and then tighten it again using the winding mechanism to ensure that the ribbon actually can move. Reinsert the ribbon cartridge according to the manufacturer's instructions.

10. Do some wall sits: With your back flat against the wall, move your feet away from the wall so that the wall is supporting you. 12. Burn those buns with a gluteal squeeze: While sitting or standing, squeeze the muscles of your rear end. Hold, then relax.

14. Include toe raises in your regime: Sitting in a chair or standing, lift and lower your toes while keeping your heels on the ground.

15. Do some push-ups: Depending on your fitness level, you can do them standing and facing a wall, on the floor with your knees bent, or on the floor with your legs straight and toes touching the ground.

16. Try seated rows: Sitting on the floor with your legs straight, wrap an old T-shirt or stretchy exercise band behind the soles of your feet. With one end in each hand, squeeze your shoulder blades together by bringing your elbows behind you while stretching the T-shirt or band. Return to the starting position.

17.Work your arms with dips: With the palms of your hands on a chair or bench and your feet on the floor, scoot your rear end off the end of the chair. Bend your elbows, lowering your body, then straighten your arms to return to the starting position.

18. Pick up some dumbbells or use makeshift weights, such as water-filled milk jugs, soup cans, water bottles, or filled plastic or cloth grocery bags (with handles).

19. Shrug with shoulder raises: With or without weights in your hands, raise your shoulders up toward your ears, hold, then relax.

20. Opt for the shoulder press: With a weight in each hand, bring your hands up to ear level with your arms forming 90-degree angles at the elbow for the starting position. Straighten your arms above your head. Return your hands to their starting position.

21. Do some lateral raises: Holding weights by your side, raise both arms out to the side no higher than shoulder height. Slowly lower.

22. Be creative with bicep curls: Holding a filled grocery bag in each hand, arms and elbows tucked in by your sides, bend your elbows, bringing your hands up toward your shoulders with your palms facing you. Slowly return your hands down by your sides.

23. Get down with crunches: Lying on your back with your knees bent, reach for your knees, hold for two counts, then return to the floor.

Get Around Paris On The Cheap

Get Around Paris on the Cheap. Paris is a huge, often confusing city, but once you figure out navigate through the arrondissements and use the métro, you should be able to find your way around fairly easily.

Instructions

1. Buy a Paris Visite card before you leave home. Similar to the London Travelcard, this pass gives you unlimited travel on the métro and RER trains and SNCF Ile-de-France buses, as well as the bus parisiens (RATP) networks. Fares vary, depending on the number of zones you need to cover.

2. Purchase métro tickets in a booklet, or carnet de billets, of 10. Not only will this save you money, but you won't have to stand in line for tickets as often.

3. Walk whenever possible. Paris is a very large city, so you probably won't be able to walk everywhere you want to go, but do explore the city on foot as much as you can.

4. Get a detailed street map of Paris that shows the city divided into its neighborhoods, or arrondissements. Also carry a pocket métro map to help you plan longer trips.

5. Carry a French phrase book with you, and learn a few helpful phrases. This will be useful if you need to ask for directions, because it may be difficult to find an English-speaking Parisian who can help you.

6. Take a Paris L'Open bus tour, offered at a discount to Paris Visite cardholders. Although it's not exactly cheap, it's a good way to see the city, because you can get on or off the tour as many times as you like along the way and catch a later bus when you are ready to carry on. Commentary is in English and French, and the full journey lasts two hours and 15 minutes.

7. Ride the Noctambus line if you plan to be out late at night; this bus line covers most of Paris and the surrounding area and operates between 1:00 and 5:30 a.m.

6. Expect to receive a special bread called "qurban" at the conclusion of the service. The bread will have a cross in the middle and 12 dots, which represent the 12 apostles.

7. Prepare a Christmas meal (called "fata") of rice, garlic and boiled meat.

8. Spend Christmas morning visiting others. On your visits bring "kaik" (a type of shortbread), which will be eaten with a special drink called "shortbat."

Get 99 Crafting In Runescape

In the online role-playing game RuneScape, crafting is a useful skill to acquire if you want to make your own accessories and clothing. Some of the most powerful items in the game cannot be obtained in any other way. Crafting also saves you money, since you don't need to buy all your equipment at shops. Additionally, you can make extra cash selling your crafted items to other players. When you reach level 99 in crafting, you are able to create the most powerful and valuable items. Getting to level 99 is done differently by free and by paying players.

Instructions

Crafting for Free Players

1. Make leather gloves until you reach level 18. To make gloves, kill cows and collect cowhide from them. Tan the cowhide into soft leather, and then use a needle and thread on the leather. When prompted to specify what you want to make, choose leather gloves. If you need a needle and thread, visit the crafting store in Al-Kharid.

2. Craft leather chaps until you reach level 28. As with leather gloves, tan cowhide into soft leather and use the needle and thread on the leather. Select leather chaps as the item you wish to craft.

3. Reach level 50 by making the Hard Leather Body armor. Purchase 2,568 leathers from the crafting shop, and then tan the cowhides into hard leather. Use the needle on the hard leather to make the Hard Leather Body. Repeat until you get to level 50. If desired, you can continue making Hard Leather Body armor until you reach level 99.

4. Make silver tiaras to reach level 99 if you have enough money to buy the needed equipment. To make silver tiaras, keep a tiara mold in your inventory. Gather silver bars and then take them to a crafting furnace. Use one silver bar in the furnace and select silver tiara as the item you want to make. It will take quite some time to reach level 99, since you need to make about 15,000 silver tiaras.

Crafting for Paying Players

5. Get to level 10 crafting by making 84 leather gloves. Tan cowhides into soft leather, and then use thread and a needle to make a pair of leather gloves.

6. Make bowstrings until you reach level 28. Go to the Seer's Village and buy 645 flax, or pick it if you don't have enough money. Take the flax to any spinning wheel and spin it into bowstrings.

7. Reach level 50 by continuing to make bowstrings. Alternatively, you can make coifs. Gather 1,900 soft leathers, then use the needle on them. Select coif as the item to craft. Another method is to make silver tiaras. You must make about 1,351 silver tiaras to get to level 50. To make a silver tiara, keep a tiara mold in your inventory, and then use a silver bar at any furnace.

8. Get to level 66 by making green dragon vambraces. Kill 100 green dragons, then combine their hides with leather, thread and a needle. If desired, sell the green dragon vambraces, then use the money to buy cowhides. Make coifs out of the cowhides.

9. Reach level 99 by making blue dragon vambraces, and black dragon vambraces when possible. You will likely need to make about 100,000 vambraces to get to level 99.

Freeze Green Tea Leaves

Packed with valuable antioxidants that make it a healthy drink, loose-leaf green tea is preferred by people because it is fresher and stronger than green tea bags. Because loose-leaf teas are delicate, be alert for moisture and odors can permeate them quite easily, affecting their flavor and their lifespan. Wrap up green tea leaves tightly before freezing them to avoid potential issues. Purchase the tea in small batches so it will not be stored for long. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Wrap the green tea leaves in two tight layers of plastic wrap even if still sealed in their original packaging. The plastic wrap guards the leaves against moisture while in the freezer.

2. Slide the wrapped green tea leaves into a freezer-safe container with a tight-fitting lid. Use a container that is just big enough for the tea to keep the leaves from growing stale.

3. Place the tea leaves in a secure spot in the freezer, away from anything that might put off an odor like herbs. Put the tea in a spot where it won't become deeply frozen, such as a shelf in the door.

4. Consume the tea within a couple of months of freezing. Brew tea from the frozen leaves without defrosting them first. When freezing green tea, remember that the longer it is in storage, the less fresh it will taste.

5. Discard green tea leaves that appear soaked, moldy, overly dry or discolored.

Follow Bachelor Party Etiquette

While a bachelor party is generally a time for men to gather and cut loose a little, there are still some simple rules of etiquette that guests should follow to make sure the evening stays fun and doesn't veer into dangerous or illegal territory. Most times, if you use common sense, you won't find yourself violating too many standards of etiquette...after all, many bachelor parties have pretty loose standards when it comes to guest behavior!

Instructions

Behave Yourself at a Bachelor Party

1. Make sure you eat a good meal in advance of the bachelor party, particularly if only snacks (as opposed to more substantial food offerings) are expected to be available. As alcohol consumption generally accompanies a stag party, it is best to moderate any potential over-indulgence by giving your stomach a good base to work with.

2. Encourage guests to use a designated driver program or have a person present whose role for the evening is offering rides home to guests. At the very least, make sure the people attending your party have access to a taxi service.

3. Moderate your alcohol consumption, particularly early in the night. Many a bachelor party has turned out to be a marathon, not a sprint, and you'll want to remain in capable form long enough to enjoy yourself.

4. Mix non-alcoholic beverages between stronger drinks. Water or unsweetened fruit juices make the best choices, as sugar- and caffeine-laden soda acts as a diuretic and can even dehydrate your body further.

5. Keep the conversation away from sensitive subjects such as religion or politics, particularly if the alcohol is flowing freely and you find yourself in the company of people you don't know very well. More than one bachelor party has culminated in fisticuffs because participants did not follow this piece of advice.

6. Treat the hired entertainment with courtesy and respect at all times. This bit of etiquette is particularly necessary if, as often happens, a female adult entertainer will be adding to the evening's festivities. The host should explain any ground rules that may be in place during such an occasion, and if he does not, the lady in question will certainly be more than happy to. Abide by her wishes. She's there for no other reason than to do her job. Let her do it.

Fold Umbrella Strollers

Umbrella strollers are more compact than other strollers.

Umbrella strollers are lightweight and easier to handle than larger, bulky strollers. The convenient size easily fits in car trunks, under bus seats, in closets and under beds. Parents often use umbrella strollers when traveling because they are easier to maneuver through a busy airport and fold up quickly. Umbrella strollers are also usually cheaper than larger strollers, another advantage that budget-minded parents enjoy. Folding an umbrella stroller can be tricky at first, but once you do it a few times, it is easy.

Instructions

1. Use your foot to apply the parking brake, locking the wheels.

2. Fold the canopy back toward the handles.

3. Locate the latch on the rear wheel rack. Move the latch to unlock the frame. Typically, the latch moves up and to the left when standing behind the stroller. Some strollers have a hook latch. In that case, pull the hook down and out. Use a hand or foot to push down on the wheel rack, folding it in half.

4. Bring the handlebars together and push them forward. Fold the rest of the stroller by squeezing it together.

5. Locate the closing latch. Most umbrellas strollers are manufactured with a closing latch to prevent it from coming open when it is not in use. The lock clip or closing latch is typically located on one of the side bars of the stroller. Attach the loose end of the latch to the other bar to keep the stroller in its folded position.

Float Candles In A Pool

There are a number of ways to float candles in a pool, depending on the size and the shape of the candles. There are floating candles that are wider at the top than at the base. Some of these can be floated without a candle holder while others will need to be placed in a candle holder. Floating other types of candles in a pool usually requires either a pool candle holder or a platform for them to rest on. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place large floating candles in the pool by themselves. These are candles that are made for floating, and their large size helps them to maintain their position on the surface even if there are gentle waves in the pool. Large floating candles are usually at least six inches in diameter.

2. Put smaller floating candles into a plastic candle holder. Small floating candles are generally made to float in a bowl of water to be used as a centerpiece. They are shaped so they float on the surface, but even a very gentle wave caused by a breeze can cause water to flow over the top and extinguish the flame.

3. Experiment with plastic candle holders, or choose candle holders that are specifically made for pool use. These are carried at most pool supply shops and are often shaped like water lilies.

4. Set small candles that aren't made to float onto a teak or plastic tray to create a small floating platform for your candles. This will work for tea lights, votive candles and small pillar candles. For the best results, use a tray that has edges that slope upwards to keep water from flowing over the tray and sinking it.

Fix Typewriters

Having a typewriter is a great way to write out ideas without needing to use a digital interface. It is a distraction-free writing atmosphere which allows you the freedom of expressing your thoughts without the need for electricity, and you don't have to plug into a printer to produce your written pages. But it can be frustrating if your typewriter stops working correctly. Fortunately, there are a few things you can fix yourself without having to take it to a professional.

Instructions

1. Tap on each key in order to see if any stick or do not properly hit the ink ribbon. If one sticks, hold it by the head and slightly and gently bend it to one side. Tap the key again and see if it still sticks. If it does, gently bend it to the other side. The idea is to straighten the key so it fits properly in the ribbon slot. Do this until no more keys stick.

2. Unlatch the top compartment to expose the ink ribbon. Unhook the ribbon from the center where the keys hit and gently pull each spool out. Push the new ribbon spools into the slots you removed the old one from and hook the ribbon across the middle where the keys hit.

3. Reattach the top compartment and flip the typewriter over, exposing the gears in the bottom. Dab each of the gears and keys with sewing machine oil and allow it to settle in. Flip the unit back to its normal position and tap each of the keys to allow the oil to begin lubricating the mechanisms.

Fix Dangling And Misplaced Modifiers

Tighten your writing with proper use of modifiers.

When you are writing, modifiers can help you add substance to your ideas and clarify your points. But modifiers can be tricky to use, and you should watch out for two troubling errors: dangling modifiers or participles, and misplaced modifiers. Both can pop up in your writing without your intention, and they can be difficult to spot. With a little sleuthing, however, you can find them in your work and fix them.

Instructions

1. Understand what dangling modifiers and misplaced modifiers are. A "dangling modifier" just dangles at the beginning of the sentence, unconnected to any logical subject. A "misplaced modifier" is just that -- out of place. The thing it's describing is there, but the two are not properly linked.

2. Watch out for "-ing" words at the beginning of a sentence -- these often signal a dangling modifier, or participle. Take a look at this sentence: "When writing, modifiers can help you clarify your points." The first part of the sentence, "When writing," is a dangling modifier. Why? Because the word that follows it --"modifiers" -- doesn't follow. Modifiers write? Really? Think about what the writer really wants to say: "When you are writing, modifiers can help you clarify your points."

3. Fix dangling modifiers in two ways: by adding a subject into the modifier itself, or by adding the logical subject immediately after the modifier. Try both ways to see what works for your sentence; sometimes, both methods will work. The first fix was in Step 2. Here's another: "When writing, you can use modifiers to help you clarify your points."

4. Beware of passive verbs -- they can lead to dangling modifiers. Passive verbs occur when you use a form of "to be" plus the past participle form of a verb, such as "was killed" or "were purchased." Passive voice eliminates the actor in a sentence. Check out what happens when you use a modifier with passive verb: "Screaming wildly, the pumpkins were thrown by the boys." Maybe in a Halloween movie, but in real life, perhaps not. The passive verb "were thrown" gives the modifier "Screaming wildly" nothing to modify. Fix it by changing the passive verb to active, clarifying who's doing the action: "Screaming wildly, the boys threw the pumpkins."

5. Watch out for words like "only," "almost," "even" and "nearly," because these modifiers are frequently misplaced. Make sure they appear directly before what they describe. Take a look at this sentence: "Annette only ate two cookies." The modifier, "only," appears before "ate," which suggests that the writer may have expected Annette to devour, crush or demolish two cookies -- not just eat them. Logically, the writer intended to clarify the number of cookies Annette ate. Fixing a misplaced modifier is easy -- just move it before what it modifies: "Annette ate only two cookies."

Fix A Broken Ukulele Bridge

Ukuleles come in four sizes of differing pitches.

Ukuleles are four-stringed instruments most commonly associated with Hawaiian music. They were brought to Hawaii from Portugal in 1879. The ukulele or uke is also known as a chordophone and is a member of the guitar family. Ukuleles come in four pitch sizes: baritone, tenor, concert and soprano. Like any other stringed instrument, ukuleles occasionally need repair. One of the more common problems appears in the instrument's bridge, where the nylon strings stretch over the soundhole to the neck.

Instructions

1. Unstring the instrument. Unwind the strings using the tuning keys on the headstock. Remove the strings from the ukulele.

2. Remove the bridge from the body. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the bridge from the ukulele's body. Gently sand the discolored area aligned under the bridge to remove any splinters or unevenness with fine grit sandpaper. Do not sand any other portion of the body to preserve the finish.

3. Wipe the bridge area clean with a polishing rag. Align the new bridge where the damaged bridge was fastened. Press the new bridge to the body and drive in the fastening screws into the existing screw holes.

4. Restring the ukulele. Replace the four strings on the instrument and tune it. Play various notes along the fretboard to test the intonations.

Fix A Broken Lock On An Antique Curio Cabinet

Breathe new life into the lock of your antique curio cabinet.

Antique display cabinets often feature a simple lock to keep prying hands off the precious ornaments inside. The internal moving parts of the lock tend to seize up after a few years of inactivity, causing the cabinet to be difficult to open and close. Treating the lock with a little tender loving care will help loosen the stuck mechanism and make it easier to operate. In most cases, the lock can be restored to normal working order in less than an hour. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Inspect the key for signs of damage or wear; a broken key will not turn properly in the lock. At the same time, ensure you are using the correct key; it's possible the lock supplied with the cabinet is not the right fit. The key is wrong if it sticks too far out of the keyhole or fails to turn. Experts specializing in antique locks can often machine a new set of keys, if necessary.

2. Spray a little compressed air through the keyhole to dislodge dust and other dry debris in the mechanism. Cans of compressed air are available from hardware stores and photography stores. Photographers use the canisters to clean dust from lenses.

3. Purchase some graphite powder from your local hardware store, preferably in a container with a spray nozzle. Squirt a little into the keyhole and move the key around inside the lock a few times. The mechanism should loosen up after a few uses.

Fish In Hawaii

Hawaii is a beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean. With all the saltwater and freshwater fishing opportunities, it is considered a fisherman's paradise. There are so many types of fishing to choose from that anyone can have fun fishing on the islands of Hawaii.

Instructions

1. Book a charter. Look online for charter fishing opportunities; below, you can find some companies in the Resources section. Charter boats allow for private-party deep-sea fishing. Check reviews before going out with any charter boat. Remember that deep-sea fishing has no guarantees, and that refunds are rarely given. Check and see what time options are available. The two most common options are half day (four hour) and full day (eight hour) fishing expeditions. The more time, the more likely that catching fish occurs.

2. Try a share boat. For those with less money, charter boats are available for rent for a single party. Others can take advantage of several small parties and split the cost between the groups. Of course, this means that strangers end up on the boat together, and odds are everybody won't get along. But, if toleration of others is something doable, it's an economical option for deep-sea fishing.

3. Go freshwater fishing. Hawaii's freshwater fishing often goes unnoticed, mainly because of the abundant saltwater fishing available. The only places fisherman need a license to fish are Oahu's Lake Wilson and Nuuanu Reservoir. There are a few charters available for freshwater fishing, although not as many as saltwater fishing.

4. Try bottom fishing. Bottom fishing is great for kids or for those who have to catch something. The fish caught are not as big as those on a sport fishing boat, but there's plenty of fish caught. Bottom fishing is a commercial style of fishing, where electric-motored nets pull in fish. It is a form of deep-water fishing. The boats that offer bottom fishing allow private charters or group outings.

5. Think dry. If getting on a boat doesn't sound fun, but saltwater fishing does, fish from shore. The Pacific Threadfin is abundant off of Hawaii's shores. Local fishing specialty stores assist in proper equipment for whatever shore fishing is chosen, whether it's wading or casting from a dock. Some fishermen even fish with nets for smaller fish, which is a fun option for kids.

Host A Low Country Seafood Boil 1012 People

Shrimp is a key ingredient in low country boil.

Although crawfish boils are the most well-known type of seafood boil, in the coastal regions of South Carolina and Georgia, the low country boil makes shrimp the star of the show. Boiled in a large pot with corn, red potatoes and sausage, low country boil is ideal for an outdoor party. If you are hosting 10 to 12 guests, use a recipe that serves that amount or scale the recipe so that each person will have at least one serving of this regional favorite. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Prepare your outdoor space for a traditional boil. Low country boil is typically prepared in a large pot on a burner outside and served on picnic tables lined with newspaper. Use several layers of newspaper and make sure you have enough seating for at least 12.

2. Prepare the ingredients for the low country boil by slicing the sausage in 1 1/2-inch pieces, cutting each ear of corn in half. Peeling the shrimp is an optional step, as the shell helps retain more flavor in the shrimp.

3. Place the 4 lbs. of red potatoes in the large pot, and add about 5 qt. of water, the 3-oz. bag of boil seasoning and 4 tbsp. of Old Bay spice and bring to a boil on the propane burner. Allow it to boil for five minutes.

4. Add the sliced sausage and ears of corn, then return to a boil, cooking for another 10 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.

5. Add the shrimp and cook for another three to four minutes, until they are fully pink.

6. Drain the water from the pot, then pour the boil onto the newspapers on the tables so that there is food along the length of the table.

7. Place bowls of cocktail sauce and bowls of melted butter on the table. Also place plastic bowls for discarded shrimp shells, and let everyone dig in.
