Flying on a military aircraft is very uncommon to the public, but it is a very safe and popular way to fly for a small population of Americans; primarily family members of service men and women. This article will show you find military flights and purchase tickets.
Instructions
1. List the different destinations you may want to travel.
2. Prepare standard identification such as drivers license and social security card. If you plan to travel offshore you will be required to have a passport.
3. Contact your local USO (United Service Organization) to begin your inquiry. They will let you know any excessive documentation you must have in order to fly via military.
4. Log on to to the Military website (see Resources) and click the travel link to view routine flights in the U.S. If you are a family member of service person you will qualify for a discounted fare. You will need the name and I.D. number of the person you are related to, and you must be listed as a first relative on their profile.
5. Flying directly on a MAC (military aircraft carrier) flight which is primarily for overseas trips you will need to coordinate this venture with the nearest military base to your community. These flights carry uniformed service persons and contractors. Many times they will have extra seats available for purchase.
