Homemade Sponge Bob Invitations

SpongeBob SquarePants has been making children laugh aloud since 1999. The misadventures of this sponge living in a pineapple under the sea seems to attract kids young and old. Maybe it's his everyday fast-food job that he gets up for eagerly every morning or his unconventional way of passing through life that attracts its viewers. In either case, children everywhere are asking for Spongebob birthday parties, complete with the Spongebob cake, decorations and of course, invitations.

Instructions

1. Fold yellow cardstock in half horizontally. Cut to preferred size and then scallop the edges with decorating scissors. Be sure to avoid scalloping the folded edge.

2. Cut two squares of black cardstock that are slightly smaller than the card itself. Open the card and glue one square to the inside top and one square to the inside bottom of the card. The inside should now be black with a yellow border. This will create a nice writing surface when you write the invitation details in the final step.

3. Close the card and lay it flat. Cut two round circles out of the white cardstock for the eyes. Cut two small black circles out of the black cardstock for the pupils. Glue the pupils onto the white eyes and then glue the eyes onto the card. The eyes should be placed near the top of the card leaving enough room for eyelashes.

4. Cut six skinny long ovals for the eyelashes from black cardstock. Glue three eyelashes onto each eye on the card.

5. Cut the shape of SpongeBob's mouth from black cardstock. Glue it onto the card leaving room for a nose

6. Cut two small rectangles out of the white cardstock for the teeth and glue them onto the top of the mouth with a small gap in between. With the red or pink card stock, cut a small heart for the tongue and glue that inside the mouth under the teeth.

7. Cut the shape of SpongeBob's nose from yellow cardstock and glue it to the card. At this stage, the yellow nose blends into the yellow card. This will be fixed later. You may also cut out yellow round cheeks and glue them on as well.

8. Cut a sponge into a circle to use as a stamp. Stamp green ink into circles in various places on SpongeBob's face. You may want to use a variety of sizes as well. This gives him his sponge-like appearance. Use the edge of your stamp to brush green ink around the edges of SpongeBob's nose and cheeks. This will help them to stand out. You may also do this around the edges of the card.

9. Write the invitation details on the inside of the card with a white gel pen. Find an envelope to fit and mail them out.
