Clean Smith & Wesson Grips

Keeping a clean grip not only looks good but is also a safety precaution.

Whether your Smith & Wesson grip is made of wood or plastic, the cleaning process is the same for all brands of firearms. After a few days at the range, the grip of your Smith & Wesson can collect dirt and oil from your hands as well as gunpowder from shooting. A dirty grip can lead to serious issues while shooting. If the shooter's hand cannot grip the gun soundly, it could slip from his hand during the recoil of a shot. Cleaning your Smith & Wesson grip will prevent this issue.

Instructions

1. Remove the grip handles by removing the two screws on each side that hold them in place.

2. Put a quarter-sized dab of laundry detergent on a wash rag and wet it.

3. Wash dirt and grime from the grips using the wash rag.

4. Clean grip checkering and tight spaces with a toothbrush.

5. Rinse any excess soap from the grips once clean.

6. Dry the grips thoroughly before screwing them back on.

7. Wipe the grips with a small amount of oil or furniture polish to protect them.
