Dip Ice Cream In Chocolate

Dip your favorite flavor of ice cream into your favorite chocolate.

Ice cream is a classic summer treat that satisfies sweet cravings while cooling you down. However, ice cream can become boring if you do not change it up a bit. Dip ice cream in chocolate for a crunchy outer layer to your sweet treat. You can use any type of chocolate you would like to complement the flavor of your chosen ice cream. Dipping ice cream in chocolate requires about 10 minutes of prep time and 20 minutes to allow the coating to harden. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper and place it into the freezer.

2. Fill the bottom of a double boiler 3/4 of the way with water and place on a stove top over medium heat. Bring the water to a boil and add 2 cups of chocolate morsels to the upper pan.

3. Use an ice cream scoop to make a ball of ice cream and place it onto the end of a Popsicle stick,or into an ice cream cone. If you are using cones, press the ice cream in firmly so it does not fall out when you turn it upside down. It may take more than one scoop to fill the cone.

4. Stir the melted chocolate morsels with a spoon until they liquefy. If this takes more than two minutes, place the ice cream on Popsicle sticks or cones onto the cookie sheet in the freezer to prevent melting.

5. Remove the cookie sheet from the freezer and set it near the double boiler. Quickly submerge an ice cream stick or cone into the chocolate. Remove it from the chocolate and turn it upright quickly to prevent the ice cream from falling off. Place the ice cream onto the cookie sheet. Repeat with the rest of the ice cream.

6. Place the cookie sheet into the freezer for at least 20 minutes before serving to allow the chocolate to harden.
