Decorate A Table For A Luau

Decorate a Table for a Luau

A Hawaiian luau is an ideal way to celebrate a birthday, graduation or anniversary. Hawaiian luaus are fun anytime of the year, although they are best celebrated in the warmer summer months. To celebrate a luau you will want to provide some standard party accessories, such as flowered leis, grass hula skirts and coconut bras. Men can wear Hawaiian shirts and sandals, and women can dress in flowered sun dresses or beach attire. You can even decorate tables to set the tone for a luau.

Instructions

1. Cover the luau tables with Hawaiian style tablecloths. The cloths could come in solids with Hawaiian themes around the border, or you can use large Hawaiian print beach towels. Cover the table cloths with fish nets.

2. Create a tropical centerpiece by using a dashboard hula wiggler surrounded by small seashells and some silk plumeria blooms. Scatter the shells and flowers around the hula dancer.

3. Place a few real whole pineapples along the center of the table. You can also set out candles in real coconut shells or bamboo stalks.

4. Make Hawaii themed cookies to use as place cards. Make a batch of sugar cookies and shape them in the form of flowers. Use icing and write each guest's name on a cookie. Lay it in front of the plate corresponding to the seating chart.

5. Fill up large shells with macadamia nuts and potato chips, and use a child's beach pail to hold punch. Place the shells and buckets on the table.

6. Use Hawaiian themed plates, cups and napkins. You can purchase these at any party store.
