Hawaiian Themed Ideas For Party Games

Hand out leis at your next Hawaiian party.

Create a tropical Hawaiian-themed party in your backyard with tiki lights, leis and palm trees. When planning a Hawaiian-style party, plan a variety of games to play to keep your guests involved in the party. Games serve as an icebreaker for shy party-goers, and also can keep your guests from getting bored. Award the winners of each game with a tropical prize to show your appreciation for them playing the games.

Hawaiian Relay Race

For this game, you need two of each of the following: grass skirts, sunglasses, hats, lei necklaces, beach bags, Bermuda shorts and beach chairs. Divide the items into two beach bags (except the chairs) and split the players into two teams. Mark a starting line and place the two beach chairs about 15 feet from the starting line. Have all players on each team line up at the starting line and give the first player in each line a beach bag. When you say, "Go," the first player must put on all the items in the bag and race to the beach chair, and then back to the starting line. That player takes off the items and gives them to the next player in line, who does the same as the first player. The first team to have all players put on the items, and run to the beach chair and back wins the game.

Coconut Bowling

Purchase several coconuts and pineapples from your local grocery store. Use the pineapples as bowling pins and the coconuts as bowling balls. Set up the "pins" and let each player roll the coconuts to try to knock down the "pins." Let each player roll the coconut three times and record how many pins he knocks down. The player who knocks down the most pins in three rolls wins the game.

Hawaiian Prize Pool

Fill a small plastic swimming pool or large bucket with water. Purchase plastic Hawaiian items that float in water such as flip-flops, seashells and fish. Use a permanent marker to write the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on the bottom of the plastic items. Get three paper sacks and label them 1, 2 and 3. Fill the sacks with Hawaiian-themed prizes. Put the plastic items in the pool and let each guest draw an item. If a guest draws a plastic item marked 2, then she gets a prize from bag No. 2. Play until every guest has a prize.
