Go the extra mile and make your child's next birthday card one to remember. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Decide if you would like to make the card by hand or if you would like to create it on your computer. There are free online sources you can use to create the perfect child's birthday card for free. Merely type a phrase such as "create free children's birthday cards." Look into websites such as funbirthdaycards, as this website offers 1000's of free templates that are available for download.

2. Choose a theme that you know is important to the birthday boy. If your son or grandson likes dinosaurs, create a card that is dinosaur related. Use graphics from the Internet or hand sketch dinosaurs if you are artistic. You may also want to look at children's picture books for ideas. Visit a used book store and pick up a book or two that could go along with your theme. Consider cutting pictures out of the book to use on the card.

3. Use lots of color in your card. Children are usually drawn to bright colors and graphics as opposed to the more elegant, simple cards that adults tend to appreciate. Pick up supplies such as glitter, glue, construction paper, and even poster board. Buy stickers and ribbons to give your card an added element.

4. Fold your poster board in half. Consider cutting it down to an average card size or use the entire thing to make a large birthday card. Choose a simple phrase for the front of the card. Usually the introduction of children's cards contain a phrase that has to do with age or with the birthday party. Apply the phrase first. Glue or draw the pictures or graphics that you want around the phrase. Feel free to carry the graphic from the front of the card to the back of the card.

5. Work on the inside of the card. Include a rhyme or just a happy birthday phrase. Bring the theme from the front to the inside of the card.
