Planning a teen's birthday party can be challenging and fun. There are many themes from which to choose, such as "Sweet 16," "Luau," "Sock Hop," "Masquerade" or "Mardi Gras." Involve your teen as much as possible in the planning and decorating for her party. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Decide on a theme with your teen.
2. Place some palm trees and tropical artifacts around for a Luau. Send the guests home with flower leis and grass skirts as party favors.
3. Hang some vinyl records and metallic streamers, and clear the floor for some jitterbugging for a sock hop themed party. Ask the guests to come in traditional '50s attire.
4. Tack up some movie posters and old movie reels. Dim the lights, and serve popcorn in paper bags for a movie-themed party. Offer comfortable seating, such as beanbag chairs or fluffy floor pillows.
5. Turn your house into a candy shop with large lollipops, chocolates and other sugary sweets for a Sweet 16 party. Personalized candy bar wrappers would make good party favors, which can be ordered online from Party 411 (see Resources below).
6. Place art supplies on the tables and let the guests express themselves for an arty party. Offer smocks or aprons, and ask the guests to come in knock about clothing.
7. Toss plenty of beads around, and offer feathered masks and boas for a Mardi Gras party. Play Zydeco music and serve shrimp etouffee and jambalaya.
