If you need to make an island model for something, or just want to get creative and do a fun project at home, learn the simple steps to doing so.
Instructions
1. Decide what size model you need to make, in order to decide how much clay to use. For larger models, use about a cup to two cups of clay, and for smaller ones you'll want to stick to under a cup.
2. Roll clay into a ball with your hands until it is smooth and perfectly round. Then, using a rolling pin or patting the clay with your hands, stretch it into a thick circular shape. This will be the base of your island.
3. Pinch the sides or cut off pieces of clay from your base, to give a more jagged rocky island look. Also pinch the clay all over the top and add more clay, along with your pebbles, randomly to simulate rocks and hills on your island.
4. Take a handful of cotton balls and spray them with a light layer of green spray paint. Allow about half and hour drying time before use, then using crafts glue you can glue bits of your cotton balls onto the model wherever you would like to add the look of bushes and trees.
5. Take your blue plastic wrap and wrap it loosely around a disposable cooking sheet. You want to wrap it loosely so that it has a wavy look of moving water.
6. Place your island in the center of the cooking sheet and you now have a great clay model island surrounded by water.
