Finding the capital of Hawaii is as easy as finding a map or atlas.
The Hawaiian Islands are a prime spot for vacationers looking for an island getaway to the Pacific -- and have been for decades. The chain is made of several islands, each unique in what they offer, but despite the fact Hawaii is divided by water, it does have a state capital: Honolulu, which is situated on the southern tip of Hawaii's island of Oahu. Finding the capital is as easy as flipping open a map.
Instructions
1. Perform an online search by typing "Hawaii" or "Honolulu" into a search engine. Plenty of information will surface, but click on the Images button to view any number of panoramic views of the city, or of the coastline or a thumbnail of a map. For a more detailed look, search "map of Honolulu" or "map of Oahu" and look at the southern portion of the resulting map to locate Honolulu, which is printed in boldface.
2. Open a U.S. atlas and thumb to "Hawaii", the only U.S. state labeled in the H section. There you'll be able to not only find Oahu's location in relation to the other islands, but you'll find a much more in-depth view of Honolulu itself. You may also notice that Honolulu lies southeast of Pearl City, the site of the infamous Japanese harbor attack that brought about U.S. involvement in WWII.
3. Call or email Hawaii's department of tourism at GoHawaii.com and request a free tourism guide that can be mailed to your home address. In it, you'll find plenty of information on the Hawaiian capital, including find it and get there, if you'll be visiting elsewhere on Oahu or another island in the chain.
