Design Your Own Christmas Card Invitation

Christmas parties begin with a snazzy invitation. A nice invitation will encourage your guests to come and participate in your fun and festive holiday event. Personalize your Christmas card invitation with a family motto, picture or theme that is important to you. Your invitation could do double duty as a Christmas card. You won't have to send a second card for Christmas if you word your invitation the right way.

Instructions

1. Snap some pictures with your digital camera. These should pictures of your immediate family. Celebrate a pictorial Christmas theme by asking your picture subjects to wear Santa hats or red and green Christmas sweaters. Take color pictures horizontally and vertically oriented. Take a few pictures with the black and white option on your camera too. Black and white photographs make nice images to print on cards.

2. Load the photograph files on to your computer. As you save them, give them an easy, identifiable name and put them in a desktop file. This will make them easier to find later.

3. Open up the graphics program on your computer. Choose the card template that you like the most. On the front of the card leave the photograph option blank. Add a header to the top of the page that says "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays". At the bottom or the footer of the front of the card put the year. Select a font style and color that supports your Christmas theme.

4. Add a text box to the inside left page. It should include a brief holiday greeting. Wish your card recipients a "Merry Christmas" and share any personal message you like. Add a text box to the inside right page of the card. In this text box include the date, time and location of your Christmas party. Don't forget to add a phone number or email for guests to send their RSVPs.

5. Add on the back page, near the bottom, a family crest or shield. If you don't have one just use the initial of your family's surname. Print the card on the card stock. Fold the card neatly in half, then in quarters.

6. Choose the picture size you will be adding to the front of the card. Choose the picture you will be using. Print the photographs on the photo paper. Cut them out neatly with the scissors.

7. Squirt a drop or two of the white glue on the front of the card. Position your photo over the glue. Let it dry.

8. Cut 4 to 6 inches from the ribbon. Make a tiny bow. Glue the bow to the front of the card below or just above the year listed on the bottom of the card. Let it dry. Tuck the card in the envelope. Address the envelopes and then seal them with a gold seal.
