When you buy music or a movie from the Internet, the file will often end up on your computer's hard drive. If your goal was to enjoy this file on your MP4 player, then you'll have to first transfer it to your player. You can use a program for this, but it can also be accomplished simply by moving a file from one folder into another once your device is properly hooked up to your computer.
Instructions
1. Plug one end of the USB cable into your MP4 device and the other end to the USB port on your computer.
2. Click on the folder option when your computer auto-recognizes your device and makes a window of options appear. Click on the "Start" button in Windows, and then click on "My Music," or whatever folder contains the music you wish to transfer.
3. Drag the music file you want from your computer folder, then to the folder in your MP4 player marked "Music." You should see a transfer bar that indicates the file is being moved over. Unhook your MP4 player and listen to your music.
4. If you prefer, download a program that can transfer your music for you, like iTunes. (See Resources).
5. Download the program by clicking on the link on the website, and then install it by opening the installation file. You can then drag files directly to iTunes to add them. While your MP4 player is hooked up with the USB player, you should be able to hit the synchronize button to automatically update your MP4 player with the new music file(s).
