Decorate With A Light Blue Sectional Sofa

Use several shades of blue to decorate a room with a light blue sectional sofa.

Blue is a cool color that works well with a variety of other colors; it can create an open and airy feel and complement any style of decor you fancy. Use different shades of blue, neutral colors or contrasting colors to create a room that reflects your personality, style and needs. Decorate your living room around your light blue sectional sofa, as that will likely be the largest thing in the room. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Paint the walls a light soft color, such as cream, buttery yellow, beige or light blue-gray to provide a soothing background for the light blue sectional. Alternatively, use a darker color to contrast with the light blue of the sofa, such as charcoal gray or navy blue. Use a patterned wallpaper in lighter shades, such as white and light gray, if you like patterns and the sectional is solid blue.

2. Add other pieces of furniture that complement the light blue sectional, such as cream-colored chairs in a formal living room or blue and white striped chairs in a casual or beach-themed room. Victorian-era chairs covered in green, yellow or pink fabric with a blue floral pattern are also appropriate. Use a round or square coffee table or ottoman in front of the sectional, along with at least one side table. Glass or clear tables work well in smaller rooms, as they take up less visual space.

3. Place throw pillows or a throw on the sectional with colors or patterns that complement the rest of the room. Frilly pillows with embroidered patterns including some light blue work in a Victorian room, whereas bright yellow floral pillows or blue and white checked pillows are more appropriate in a traditional or casual room. Hang curtains and place a rug in front of the sectional that includes colors found throughout the room or a pattern that features light blue to complement the sectional.

4. Hang collectible plates, artwork, mirrors, pictures or wall sculptures around the room. Silver or chrome frames or wall sculptures will stand out against grayish walls and add to a monochromatic feel for a modern look. Black and white photographs in black frames work for numerous styles, whereas photos of a garden are suitable for Victorian decor. Frame larger prints of the ocean, beach, lighthouses or skylines for beach- or nature-themed rooms.

5. Accessorize the room with plants, flowers, candles, fountains and lamps to create a comfortable space for relaxing or entertaining. Fountains can provide a soothing feeling and add to a Zen-like or nature-themed room. Use simple candle arrangements for casual or traditional decor, or elaborate candelabras for a formal room. Light blue, white or metallic accessories will complement the light blue sectional.
