An MP4 player is a portable media player that supports both audio and video files. The MP4 name suggest that it is compatible with either MP4 video or audio. In addition to MP4, your MP4 player may support additional formats. If you're not sure, using Windows Media Player may be the ideal method as Windows Media Player will automatically convert incompatible files to a format that will play on your MP4 player. Some MP4 players allow you to "Drag and Drop" files onto the device using Windows Explorer (Windows file management system).
Instructions
Windows Media Player
1. Open Windows Media Player. Connect the MP4 player to your computer using the USB cable (which will have been included with the MP4 player).
2. Click the "Sync" button.
3. Drag and drop the audio files that you want on the MP4 player into the "List" section under the Sync button. While you can arrange files in any order you'd like, it does not matter as the files will be categorized according to their individual tag properties (e.g. artist name or album title).
4. Click the "Start Sync" button. The incompatible files (any file with a format not supported by the MP4 player) will be converted before being transferred to the MP4 player.
Drag and Drop
5. Connect the MP4 player to your computer using the USB cable (which will have been included with the MP4 player).
6. Click the "Start" button in the Windows taskbar. Click "My Computer" ("Computer" for Windows Vista/7 users).
7. Double-click the name of the MP4 player. It may also be referred to as "Removable Disk [F:]," although the drive letter can vary depending on what you have connected to your computer. Either way, the MP4 player should be the device with the drive letter highest in the alphabet as it was the most recent device connected to your computer. Once opened, you will be in the root storage directory (where all files on the device are stored).
8. Drag and drop the audio files that you want on the MP4 player into the root storage directory. Some MP4 players may include sub-folder such as "Music" or "Audio." If possible, place the files in those folders.
