Decorate A Hawaiianstyle Wedding

Floral leis can be worn or used to decorate tables.

Now that you have found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, its time to create the ceremony of your dreams. If you have always dreamed of a Hawaiian wedding but find that it’s out of your budget, why not go for an island-style wedding theme. Vivid colors, tropical d cor and large flower arrangements are some of the elements involved in an Hawaiian-style wedding. Use a bit of creativity and imagination to personalize this big event.

Instructions

1. Choose a color scheme for the wedding. Color schemes are generally vivid colors such as blue, green, orange and yellow to give the venue a tropical feel.

2. Line the wedding aisle with a floral strand of plumeria. Use long flower garlands that drape down to the floor to dress up arches and alters. Add some large, green palm fronds amid the flowers. Popular Hawaiian flowers include oncidium orchids, bird of paradise and yellow hibiscus. Other choices include purple dendrobium orchids, bougainvilleas and red ginger.

3. Place a circle of flowers, 6 feet in diameter, on the ground at the exact spot where you will exchange vows. This circle of flowers is a Hawaiian tradition that symbolizes the eternal love that two people can share.

4. Drape white linen on reception tables. Lay a runner of palm fronds on the table. Place tropical fruit such as lemons, pineapple, bananas and papayas on the ferns. Finish the look by tucking in a couple of anthuriums and orchids, or use a table runner in a vivid shade such as red, yellow or orange.

5. Create a stunning centerpiece. Place large bouquets of your favorite Hawaiian flower in silver vases on the reception table. The silver will contrast strongly against the color of the flower which makes for a gorgeous centerpiece. Sprinkle plumeria or orchid petals around the vase. Or place tropical flowers in the center of a large conch shell. Or align tea lights along the length of the table and place sea shells of different sizes and shapes among the tea lights. Another option is to use bamboo baskets filled with a variety of tropical flowers. Place some seashells around the basket. Another idea is to use lay leis that lie flat on the table.
