Design A Wedding Invitation Card

Inform the guests of your wedding with an invitation.

Many brides and grooms desire wedding invitations that are a reflection of the event itself. To ensure that your wedding invitation matches the theme and feel of your bridal affair, you can design your own wedding invitation card. By designing your card yourself, you can make an invite that is reflective of your style and the theme of your event. Taking on this task also gives you the opportunity to exercise your creativity in the months leading up to your nuptials.

Instructions

1. Use a publishing program of your choice to design and print your invites. If you intend to have your invitations printed professionally, use the publisher's system when designing your invites.

2. Use your favorite shapes and sizes. Determine whether you want your invitation to be rectangular, square or a less common shape. You can also create invitations that are circular or in the shape of a wedding bell. Decide what dimensions you would like your invitation to be. Consider potential shipping costs when making these determinations, as mailing large invitations is often more expensive.

3. Use a color scheme that matches your vision of your wedding day. Reflect your wedding colors in your invitation to tie the invite to your event chromatically. If you do not wish to do this, select some colors to feature in your invitation. While you can use an almost limitless number of colors, many brides and grooms opt to craft a sophisticated invitation with a few well-selected hues.

4. Include symbols on the card. Select shapes reflective of your wedding theme, such as leaves to represent a fall wedding, and feature these symbols on your card. Place the symbols in a border around the edge, as a watermark in the center or simply scattered around the card.

5. Use a font to match the tone of your wedding. Choose a formal font, such as a script option, or go with a font with a less formal option, such as Arial or Veradana, to reflect a simple wedding.

6. Compose the invitation text. Type your desired text in the selected font, centering your words or aligning them to the left or right.

7. Include a three-dimensional feature to give your invitation a little extra pizazz. You can punch holes and string ribbon through the top or perimeter of the invitation, for example.

8. Print or order the designed invitations. Check your design for errors or typos numerous times before ordering or printing your invitations to ensure that your resulting product is as perfect as your wedding day itself.
