Address A College Graduation Announcement Envelope

You have come through at least two to four years of extremely hard work. It's your college graduation and that means it's time to send out announcements. There is a limit on guests at your graduation but there are many people who celebrate this milestone with you.Yes, college graduate, this is your responsibility, not your parents.College has not given you time to hone your etiquette skills so here are proper ways for you to address envelopes for your college graduation announcements.

Instructions

1. Order announcements and address labels at least ten weeks prior to your graduation date. Return address labels are acceptable and save you extra time when addressing your announcements. Compile a list of names and addresses. Be sure to include family, friends and professional acquaintances that have encouraged or supported you through the college years. Double check family names with your parents to be sure they are spelled correctly.

2. Choose a quality ink pen that will not leak or bleed ink into the envelope paper. You must hand write out the names and addresses with an ink pen in cursive. This is the proper ettiquette for college announcement envelopes.

3. Write the titles and full names of the person or persons you are addressing the envelope to. For example, write Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith. You must write the 'and' between the names. For doctors and other professionals you will use their titles:

Dr. Arthur and Mrs. Smith, Dr. Arthur and Dr. Matilda Smith or The Doctors Smith, Reverend Arthur and Mrs. Smith, Colonel Arthur and Doctor Matilda Smith and so on.

4. Write out the full address. The state names are written out completely. For example,

"Dr. Arthur and Colonel Matilda Smith Forty Athens Place Alexandria, Virginia 00000." When writing the number of an address you write the word out for any number under twelve or a number that can be divided by ten. 101 Athens Place is proper as is One hundred Athens Place. Six Athens Place is proper as is 13 Athens Place. The addresses with four numbers would be written as a number. For example, 4507 Athens Place is proper.

5. Write out separate announcements to adult children who live at their parents' address. When addressing an envelope to a couple with different last names you will write Mr. Arthur Smith and Miss (or Ms.) Matilda Peabody.

6. Write your inner envelopes in a slightly less formal way. If the couple have children you will write out each name: Mr and Mrs.

Arthur Smith Katherine, Mark, Arthur Junior. You may use endearments, such as "Uncle Arthur and Aunt Matilda, Grandmother and Grandfather."
