The area around the Kualoa Regional Park offers relaxing, modest hotels.
Though not a state park, the small Kualoa Regional Park on the Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe, Hawaii, offers an uncrowded beachfront along the Kualoa Mountains. Because the quiet Kualoa Regional Park doesn't have the same sort of tourist appeal as other Hawaii beaches, you'll have to travel a bit to reach hotels. Visitors can find hotels from four to 16 miles away in Kaneohe, Laie and Kailua. Book your rooms well in advance as space is limited.
Paradise Bay Resort
As its name suggests, the Paradise Bay Resort offers fully-featured resort-style accommodations just under four miles south of the Kualoa Regional Park. This hotel features a laid-back atmosphere offering rooms with mountain views, palm fans and and covered lanais. Paradise Bay offers free food, Mai Tais and mojitos two nights a week. Adventurous travelers partake in kayaking, paddle boating and sport fishing on-site. Paradise Bay is in the heart of the Kaneohe Bay, but visitors can reach Waikiki in about 20 minutes by car.
Tiki Moon Villas
Kualoa Regional Park visitors looking for more casual lodging may want to consider the Tiki Moon Villas, just over 10 miles from the park down the Kamehameha Highway. This modest lodging has four bungalows among private beach gardens on the north shore of Oahu. Each bungalow is different, hosting anywhere from one to seven guests and featuring touches such as private decks, garden walkways and full kitchens. Tiki Moon's landscaped grounds feature a plethora of plants, ponds and waterfalls. Like Paradise Bay, Tiki Moon hosts weddings and private events.
Pillows In Paradise
Just over 15 miles south of the Kualoa Regional Park, Pillows In Paradise bills itself as "Kailua's premier bed and breakfast." Owner Barbara High stresses the family-friendly, down-to-earth nature of Pillows In Paradise, which offers simple and affordable lodging in the form of studio suites. Visitors will find public transportation just one block away and the sleepy beach town of Kailua just out the door.
Sheffield House Bed and Breakfast
Kailua plays host to another bed-and-breakfast-style hotel, the Sheffield House Bed and Breakfast. Green gardens and airy spaces characterize this lodging, which offers a complimentary breakfast on your first morning. The Sheffield House offers quiet accommodations, hosting only two bungalows -- the Guest Room and the Garden Suite. Like Pillows In Paradise, this hotel is just a short walk from the Kailua Beach, which the hotel's proprietors dub the best kept secret in Hawaii.
