Hotels In Lahaini Hawaii

Lahaina is a former whaling village on the west coast of Maui.


Located on the west coast of Maui, the former whaling village of Lahaina is a gateway to the beach resorts of Kaanapali and Kapalua three miles north. Lahaina, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has plenty of its own attractions such as its 55-acre historic district, harbor, large number of restaurants and bars, and a full calendar of festivals, including a Halloween parade that draws 30,000 participants every year.


The Plantation Inn


The Plantation Inn is in the historic town center, two blocks from the waterfront and a three-minute walk to Banyan Tree Park, home of the largest banyan tree in the United States. Frommer's recommends this hotel for couples, noting that the 19 guest rooms and suites feature romantic decor such as period furniture, stained glass and four-poster, brass or wicker beds. Breakfast is included in rates and includes gourmet French toast, eggs Basquaise, island fruit and homemade yogurt. Guests receive a dinner ticket for the on-site French restaurant Gerard's for each night of their stay.


Lahaina Inn


The Lahaina Inn is in the Historic District and occupies a building dating from 1938. The hotel's 10 guest rooms and two suites all feature antique furnishings, Hawaiian quilts on beds and private decks with wooden rockers. The hotel is on a busy street so Lonely Planet advises that some traffic noise should be expected. Lonely Planet recommends the Makai Suite for ocean views, while Frommer's suggests room number seven, which overlooks the beach and Lanai island. The on-site Lahaina Grill serves modern American cuisine and for 17 years has been has been voted Maui's best restaurant by Honolulu Magazine. Other dining options around the hotel include the steak and seafood restaurant Kimo's.


Maui Guest House


Maui Guest House is situated between Lahaina town center and Kaanapali Beach, in a quiet residential area, one block front the waterfront. The house's five guest rooms all feature private decks and hot tubs. Guests have full use of the kitchen, 24-hour access to the salt water swimming pool, and can borrow snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach mats and chairs. Breakfast is included in rates and consists of fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and cereals. Maui Guest House also operates a tour company and can offer discounts on activities and car rentals. Nearby restaurants include the Hawaiian-style Aloha Mixed Plate, a 15-minute walk away.


Best Western Pioneer Inn


The Best Western Pioneer Inn, which dates from 1901, is situated 50 feet from Lahaina Harbor. The plantation-style building features large verandas that overlook the water and streets of Lahiana and 34 reasonably priced guest rooms. Frommer's recommends room number 31, which overlooks Banyan Tree Park, for views of the harbor and ocean. The on-site Pioneer Grill and Bar serves breakfast and dinner, and other nearby restaurants include the casual Cheeseburger in Paradise, a five-minute walk away.
