Hotels Near Haleakala Park Hawaii

Haleakala National Park is located on the Hawaiian Island of Maui and home to the island's highest peak. Haleakala, which means "house of the sun" in Hawaiian, is a volcano that rises 10,023 feet above sea level. Watching the sunrise from the summit is a popular activity for tourists, who can reduce travel time early in the morning by staying at a nearby hotel.


Kula Lodge


Kula Lodge occupies a building built in the 1940s as a private residence on the western slopes of Haleakala. The lodge is surrounded by gardens and offers views of the Pacific Ocean and west Maui mountains. The lodge has four private chalets, all with private lanai, and most with a loft. Kula Lodge is a good choice for those looking for a peaceful getaway as none of the rooms have televisions or Internet connections. The lodge's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with dishes ranging from freshly caught seafood, game and vegetarian options. Frommer's recommends cocktails in the evening to catch the spectacular sunset.


Upcountry Bed and Breakfast


Upcountry Bed and Breakfast is located five miles northwest of Haleakala National Park and five minutes from Kula Botanical Gardens. The property has five guestrooms, all featuring tropical decor, Hawaiian quilts and private lanais facing west for views of the ocean and sunset. Facilities include an outdoor hot tub, maintained at 104 degrees, and a lounge area. Breakfast is included in rates and features locally grown fruit and locally baked pastries.


Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea


Located 10 miles west of Haleakala National Park, the Four Seasons offers 380 guestrooms and suites, most with a view of the ocean. For families, Fodor's recommends requesting Suite 301, which features a round bathtub and private lawn. Facilities include a fitness center; 4,100-square-foot, adult-only outdoor swimming pool; full-service spa; and two tennis courts. The 18-hole Wailea Blue golf course is just five minutes from the hotel. Guests can choose from three dining venues, including the steak and seafood restaurant Duo, which features an open kitchen.


Maui Coast Hotel


The Maui Coast Hotel is in Kihei, 12 miles west of Haleakala, a block from Kamaole Beach Park I and within walking distance of a number of restaurants and shops. The hotel's 265 guest rooms all feature private lanais and Hawaiian artwork by a local artist. Facilities include a fitness center, outdoor hot tub, outdoor swimming pool and two tennis courts; Elleair Maui Golf Club is just five minutes north. Guests can choose from two dining venues, including a poolside cafe. Special packages that include a rental car are available.
