Adjust The Rear Sight Of A M&P 9mm

The Smith and Wesson Military and Police--M&P for short--9mm handgun is a plastic-and-metal hybrid pistol developed for law enforcement and other government agencies, and has since found its way into the public sector as well. Because accuracy is of prime importance in any handgun, the M&P has rear sights that are able to be adjusted as needed--though only for "windage," or left-and-right accuracy. Fortunately, adjusting the rear sight is a relatively simple process.

Instructions

1. Loosen the rear sight set screw--if your M&P is equipped with one--with the screwdriver by turning it counterclockwise.

2. Use your fingers or a punch--it should be brass or plastic to keep it from marring the metal--to tap the sight either left or right as needed.

3. Tighten the screw back down with the screwdriver to secure the rear sight in place.

4. Fire four or five rounds with the new sight adjustments to make sure the sight has been adjusted properly. Repeat steps one through three as needed until the sights are adjusted correctly.
