Use nature as a guide in decorating for country weddings.
Country weddings can be nature-themed or western-themed and depend largely on the wishes of the bride and groom. Both variations on the country theme have similar aspects that can be interchanged. Western country decorations tend to be more focused on the implements and attire worn by country people, or cowboys. The western wedding doesn't necessarily take place outdoors. Nature country decorations focus on flowers, vegetation and the natural environment of the wedding location, which is ordinarily outdoors. Decorating for a country wedding will depend largely on your budget and level of formality.
Instructions
Nature-Theme Country Wedding Decorations
1. Cover tables with earth- or flower-toned cloths for formal themes, or with red and white picnic tablecloths for informal themes. Remember to think ahead for wind and position heavier objects near the table ends to hold the tablecloths down.
2. Provide paper hand fans or inexpensive umbrellas, depending on your location, to the guests or on the tables. According to Hudson Valley Weddings, since you're likely to be outdoors where you can't control the environment, you want the guests to be comfortable.
3. Decorate tables with native flowers. Cover pots with burlap bags or place the flowers in baskets. If the wedding is in the heart of Bluebonnet country, use Bluebonnets. If the wedding is in an area known for sunflowers or roses, utilize the flowers that grow abundantly.
4. Place primitive candles at the center of the table. Wood candle holders or plates look simple and natural beneath primitive pillars. Primitive candles are also called grubby candles and can be purchased from candle and country stores.
5. Provide favors, such as mints or candies, tied in small burlap sacks or in mini-baskets. According to Hudson Valley Weddings, keep in mind the temperature of your location. Don't use any edibles that will melt in hot climates.
Western-Theme Country Wedding Decorations
6. Place hay bales around the event location. According to Party 411, set the hay bales near the entrance too. Bales of hay can be purchased and/or rented at many florists, garden nurseries and at feed stores.
7. Cover tables with classic picnic tablecloths or unbleached muslin. Muslin is inexpensive, looks natural and can be purchased at fabric stores. According to Party 411, denim makes a great country table cloth as well.
8. Put flowers inside cowboy boots, upside down cowboy hats or in galvanized washtubs. Tie a bandanna around the outside of the hat or washtub. Set the arrangements in the center of the table or on top of the hay bales.
9. Place horseshoes, lassos and cactus-shaped candles around the larger flower arrangements in the table centers. According to Party 411, you can tie bandannas around cactus plants in pots as decorations. For windy locations, tie horseshoes to each corner of the tablecloths.
10. Place mini-baskets or small burlap sacks filled with favors, such as candies or mints, near each table setting or in a large washtub or basket to be taken by the guests.
11. Put canned drinks and ice into large galvanized metal washtubs and set on sawhorses for a rustic, country look.
