How Make A Brochure For A Project

It's easy to make a brochure on your home printer.

One of the best ways to highlight and personalize a project is with a brochure. A simple tri-fold brochure is easy to create on your home printer with the right materials. You can add graphics, customize your text and even add photos to create a professional brochure that will make your next project memorable.

Instructions

1. Choose the graphics for your brochure. Consider using a company logo or simply a photograph or clip art. Resize all images that you want to use to no more than 3 inches wide.

2. Plan your design. Use a blank sheet of brochure paper and sketch out how you would like your design to look. Write a rough draft of your text and sketch in the graphic that you will be using in the brochure. Brochure paper is available at your local office supply store or online.

3. Lay out your design using the basic word processing program on your computer. Most word processing programs have a pre-loaded template design for a brochure. If yours does not, check the label on your brochure paper for free downloadable template designs from the manufacturer's website. Brochures typically contain an easy to read font such as Times New Roman in a size of 10 to 12 points. You can use colored paper for your brochure, or you can use colored fonts for emphasis. Areas of typed information should be centered. Your brochure template will be divided into columns representing each fold of the brochure. Center your information and graphics within each column so that the brochure is easy to read and there is no information in the folds of the brochure. Paragraphs should be short, generally containing no more than four sentences each.

4. Print out a sample of your draft onto a plain sheet of paper and fold it into three sections. Verify that you have enough space left over between the sections and that the graphics and text are centered properly on the page. If you find that text bleeds over into the brochure fold, check to see that your text is centered or make the font size smaller to correct the problem.

5. Print out a test page of the brochure on brochure paper. Fold the brochure to make sure that all text and graphics are placed properly and easy to read. Check to see that all graphics are clear and easily identifiable. If your graphic is fuzzy or blurry, you may want to change it to a graphic that looks better on the scale in which you are printing. Once you are satisfied, print out as many copies of the brochure as you need for your project.
