Throw A Good Pool Party For Kids

Most kids enjoy pool parties.

Kids that have a birthday in the warmer months of the year often request a pool party. Children also like pool parties to celebrate graduations and milestones. Planning a fun kid's pool party is actually fairly easy to do, and rarely causes undue stress, fuss or broken budgets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make a guest list of the friends your child wants to invite. Having a list will ensure that no one is left out, and will allow you to accurately plan for the amount of food you need to buy.

2. Provide safe pool toys, such as rafts, beach balls and floating noodles. This will allow the children to create their own games and entertainment, such as pool volleyball.

3. Plan a light menu and serve hydrating drinks, since the children will be playing in the sun and swimming. Ideal foods include grilled chicken pitas, veggie sandwich wraps, fruit kabobs, chips and salsa, lemonade, iced tea, natural fruit punch and flavored water.

4. Decorate the pool party simply--the focal point will be the pool itself and your buffet table. Make small clusters of balloons and hang them around the table, or string a banner across the door leading to the pool.

5. Play your kid's favorite music throughout the party on your own stereo system. Having music in the background will give a more festive atmosphere, and you can also play party games to the music or have a dance contest.

6. Send your party invitations at least two weeks in advance, and mention on the invitations that guests should bring swim wear and a towel. This will allow the parents of your guests to clear their schedules and ensure each child comes with a swimsuit.

7. Supervise your kid's pool party at all times. If they are a tween, pre-teen or teenager, you can watch them from inside, but you should be monitoring their activity to ensure they remain safe.
