Disney's Grand Floridian beach resorts attract visitors from all over the world, coming to play at Walt Disney World. Many of the hotels surround the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Water activities, Magic Kingdom and Space Mountain keep families entertained for days. The resorts have so many activities for every age, it's easy to stay active without ever leaving the hotel grounds.
Marriott Orlando World Center
The World Center welcomes families with kids in mind. There are activities each day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. including sand volleyball, crafts, boogie board water races and dress up competitions. Six pools, an arcade and an indoor activity center are all a part of the stay. Award winning Hawk's Landing Steakhouse is on the premises as well as the Pavillion pool bar and a Starbucks.
The hotel has 2,000 rooms with luxury comforters and bedding, private balconies overlooking the Florida landscape and views of Disney World. Flat screen TVs with cable and satellite, HBO and ESPN, workstations, a coffeemaker, a safe and a mini bar are in each room.
Disney's Polynesian Resort
Inside the Polynesian resort, Disney offers the feel of a lavish, tropical oasis. A pool, with a 40-foot volcano and cascading waterfall, is on the property adding an island-type experience. Thatched roofs, a koi pond and an island atmosphere surround guests at every turn. The hotel, on the banks of the Seven Seas Lagoon, offers parasailing, fishing, boating and swimming. Children can hang out in the game room or in the supervised play area, Never Land.
Rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, safe, coffeemaker and sometimes a private balcony. Babysitting is available at the resort for a fee, and a spa and health club are a convenient one-stop away on the monorail, which runs adjacent to the resort. The Kona Cafe, featuring meals such as macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and an island chicken sandwich, are located at the resort as well as three other restaurants and a lounge.
Disney's Contemporary Resort
The Contemporary Resort is located in an A-frame shaped building, rising high over the Grand Floridian Beach area. The Disney World Monorail passes through the lobby of the hotel and has views of Space Mountain and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Children will have plenty to do at the resort including hanging out in the high tech game room, swimming in the pool with a 17-foot long slide and fishing activities on the lagoon. Babysitting services are available at the hotel for a fee.
Club level rooms have a DVD player, microwave and turndown service each evening. Chef Mickey's is in the hotel serving American cuisine with visits from Disney characters. A coffee bar and several other restaurants are in the hotel.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge
The Wilderness Lodge brings the atmosphere of the great outdoors, inside the hotel. A seven story lobby with lodge poles, a massive fireplace, and Native American designs help families experience the wilderness with a luxurious level of comfort. Two pools, a gushing geyser patterned after Yellowstone's Old Faithful and a 24-hour playground will keep guests busy for the entire stay. Campfire's, a swimming pool and a health club are all part of the attractions at the lodge.
A coffeemaker, refrigerator, safe and cable TV with Disney programs is available in each room. Free high-speed wireless Internet is available in select suites. Laundry facilities, concierge service and childcare services are available at the hotel for a fee.
