Handheld computer gaming is a popular pastime.
The Haunted Carousel is the eighth in a long-running series of computer games created by Her Interactive. The game is loosely based on the novel of the same name and the plot surrounds a theme park that is being haunted. Nancy Drew has to find the culprit before the theme park loses everything in a lawsuit and shuts down for good.
Second Chance
Nancy Drew can die in a variety of ways in The Haunted Carousel. When you are trying to collect the brass ring, do not move forward too far or she will fall to her death. As you work with the electrical outlets, switch off the electricity or Nancy will be electrocuted. If you take too long to fix the wires in the theme park, she will get run over by the roller coaster. Work on the bomb carefully or she will be killed if the wires are in the wrong order.
Easter Eggs
Some Nancy Drew games have hidden objects or "Easter eggs" hidden in the game. There is one in The Haunted Carousel and it can be found in Ingrid's workshop. When Ingrid is not in the shop, navigate to the fire extinguisher and click on the right top section of the doorway. You will be asked a question and if you answer it correctly you will be given an Easter egg.
Cell Phone
If you are stuck in the game and want a general clue, open Nancy's cell phone and dial the numbers to the Hardy Boys, George, Bess and Hannah. Each character will help you figure out what to do next by giving you a small hint. The cell phone can only be used when Nancy Drew is by herself.
Quick Play
In Nancy Drew: The Haunted Carousel, there are many locations to visit, people to question, puzzles to solve, and items to collect. However, you can end the game fairly quickly by only gathering the items and information that you need. When you get to a location, look at the clues and try to progress in the game; only go back to talk to someone if you can go no further. In this game, you do not receive medals or special rewards for completing the entire game.
