Homemade Chinese Favor Tags

Learn make Chinese favor tags for your give-away items.

Favor tags are an accent to add to favors so you can include the name and date of the special event. If you are hosting a Chinese-themed wedding or simply want to honor your heritage, you can create Chinese favor tags as decorations for your favors. With a few craft supplies from a local craft store and a bit of your time, you can make your own Chinese favor tags. You can even enlist family members and members of the bridal party to help you make the small favor cards --- and make a party out of it.

Instructions

1. Cut the cardstock into blocks that are 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches high.

2. Print your name -- or names -- and the date of the wedding or other event on to the white cardstock. Print the names stack on top of the date, but leave enough room above the names to fit the Chinese character stamp.

3. Stamp the Chinese character on the white cardstock so that it sits in the center above the names and date. Allow the ink to dry overnight.

4. Cut out the square with the homemade Chinese character symbol, names and date. The square should be approximately 1 inch smaller on each side than the foundational cardstock; you will be gluing it to the center.

5. Apply glue or double-sided tape to the back of the cardstock with the personalized information and adhere it to the center of the 2-inch by 1.5-inch gold cardstock.

6. Punch a small hole in the upper center of the base cardstock.

7. Cut a piece of ribbon that is approximately 3 to 4 inches long. Slide a piece of ribbon through the hole of the favor tag and attach it to the favor by tying the ribbon to the give-away item.
