Make A Rock From Fondant

Fondant can be used to ice a cake.

Using fondant to decorate desserts gives them a professional-looking touch. Although decorating with fondant can be tricky and sometimes tedious work, making rocks from fondant is easy. You can make your own fondant rocks to dress up your outdoor-themed treats. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Purchase ready-made white fondant from a local craft store.

2. Drop one or two small drops of black or brown food coloring onto the fondant.

3. Knead the fondant gently to incorporate the food coloring. Do not knead so much that the fondant turns completely gray or brown. Uneven coloring and light and dark streaks throughout the fondant will give the rocks a more realistic look. Add small single drops of food coloring to achieve the shade and mottling you want.

4. Pull off or cut varying sizes of the fondant and roll each piece into a ball or oval shape.

5. Use your fingers to shape each rock by pressing dents or irregularities into it for a more realistic look.
