Hibiscus flowers are often used for Hawaiian-style decorating and accessorizing.
Brightly hued tropical flowers are a part of everyday life in Hawaii. Whether you are going to a luau, relaxing on the beach, trying to bring the tropics to the Friday afternoon office party or finishing your look for a Hawaiian-style party, a flower hair ring enhances the experience. A silk plumeria or hibiscus flower can be added to a regular hair ring within minutes to complete the look. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Cut a 2-inch length of floral wire with the wire cutters.
2. Insert the end of the wire through the base of the silk flower and out the other side of the base.
3. Position the base of your silk flower anywhere on the elastic hair ring. Hold the base in place as you wrap the floral wire around the hair ring two or three times to secure the flower in place. Use the wire cutters to cut off any excess wire that sticks out from the band. Tuck the ends of the wire toward the hair ring so they do not poke out.
4. Cut a section of your ribbon that measures 1-by-1 inch. Fold the ends of the ribbon under and position the ribbon over the floral wire.
5. Use a needle and thread to sew the ribbon in place. The thread should go through one side of the ribbon, through the base of the silk flower, out the other side of the flower base and through the other side of the ribbon. Do this at least a few times to secure the flower, wire and ribbon in place.
6. Tie a knot in the thread when you are finished sewing. Use a scissors to cut any excess thread.
