Create & Print Your Own Luau Invitations From Home

Get your guests extra excited for your luau party by making them personalized invitations.

If you're throwing a luau party, handmade invitations can express the theme and get guests excited for what is to come. Your invitations will need to capture the spirit of a Hawaiian summer, and making them yourself allows you to have complete creative control. You can choose the verbiage, the pictures and the size of the invitation. With just a few supplies, you can create your own personalized invitations, print them and mail them off. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Open a new document in your desktop publishing software.

2. Choose the images for your card. Consider pictures of girls in skirts, palm trees, pineapples, leis or anything to do with Hawaii. Your desktop publishing software may have clip art available to look through; alternatively, look for pictures online.

3. Make a draft of your party details on a piece of paper. Write down the date, time, location, guest list, theme and any other information your guests should know. Are costumes required? Should they bring food? When should they RSVP by? Make sure your contact information is clear and correct.

4. Open your 1/2-fold card paper. Open the paper and printing settings in your desktop publishing software and change them to match the size of your card.

5. Design the front of your invitation. Insert one of your chosen pictures and add some text, such as "You're Invited to a Luau."

6. Enter the text from your draft. Double-check the spelling and information. Add another picture to make everything more visually appealing.

7. Print a sample invitation on regular paper to see how everything looks. Triple-check the information. If you're happy with how everything looks, start printing on your blank cards.

8. Mail your invitations to your guests.
