Make A Mai Tai Cocktail At Home

Mai tais nearly exude tropical and fruitiness when you look at them. It's important for any bartender or party host to know make a mai tai when they have guests who enjoy popular alcoholic beverages. Rum, amaretto, orange and pineapple come together in this beachy drink to appeal to your senses. Mai tais fit well for nearly any kind of island themed party. Some may consider this drink to be daunting to attempt but anyone can make it with the right ingredients. As with all alcoholic beverages, drinking in moderation will benefit you.

Instructions

1. Place ice in a tall glass enough to fill it. The glass must hold at least 10 ounces of liquid to work for this drink.

2. Pour in the light rum and triple sec. The triple sec gives a citrus like flavor that leans more toward orange.

3. Add the amaretto and grenadine to the glass and follow with the orange juice and pineapple juice. There must be equal parts orange and pineapple to balance the flavors. Pineapple gives this drink its tangy, tropical taste.

4. Add dark rum on top of everything in the glass if you wish. Some do not prefer the strong taste of dark rum, and it doesn't hurt the recipe to leave it out.

5. Place a stirrer and a cherry in the glass before serving. Do not serve this drink when it is filled to the brim because it may spill.
