Make A Hula Costume

Whether you're going all out for a luau-themed party or looking for something fun for Halloween, a hula costume is easy to make and fairly inexpensive. Best of all you probably already have many of the supplies you need lying around your house. So put on some Hawaiian music to set the mood and get started on the outfit that will surely be the hit of the party.

Instructions

1. Cut 20 or so pieces of dark green crepe streamers to the appropriate length for your grass skirt. Wrap the ends around a belt and tape to secure. Wrapping it around the belt will not only hide the belt from view but give the skirt some staying power.

2. Wear a bathing suit under the skirt. A one-piece will work but a two-piece with a bikini top will look more authentic.

3. Glue some silk hibiscus flowers onto a large hair clip to make a hair embellishment. Hot glue works best because it dries quickly and holds the silk flowers securely to the metal surface.

4. Make floral bracelets by hot gluing silk flowers onto a silicone bracelet or sports wrist band. Wear them not only on your wrists but your ankles as well.

5. Add a ukulele for an authentic Hawaiian look.
