Make A Paper Plate Hat Crown

Leftover paper plates can be used for many craft projects.

There is something magical about royalty to most children. Little girls dream of being princesses and little boys pretend to be kings. A craft that allows children to use their creativity and fine motor skills while enacting these fantasies is making crowns from paper plates. These crowns can be decorated with markers, paint, glitter and glue, or pretty much any other matieral you have available. An adult should help younger children with cutting the plate, because sharp scissors are required to cut some paper plates.

Instructions

1. Lay a paper plate face down on the table. Draw a circle on the plate approximately two inches from the outside edge.

2. Poke a hole in the center of your circle, and cut from the center to the line you drew. Repeat this every few inches, like you're cutting a pie.

3. Allow the children to decorate the crown with markers or paint. Once they are done, bend the wedges you cut perpendicular to the plate's outer circle and place it on the child's head.
