Homemade games for kids, such as quarter bowling, can be created in almost no time at all.
It's the middle of the winter or rainy season and your kids are starting to get restless due to being stuck indoors for much of the day. All children love playing games, and they seem to have even more fun when the game they are playing is one they made with their bare hands. One such game is quarter bowling. Many adults may remember this easy-to-make game from their childhood, which can be played on just about any smooth surface.
Instructions
Setting up the "Bowling Alley"
1. Take 10 of the rectangular Legos from a Lego set, and arrange them on a smooth table top in the traditional bowling-pin setup -- meaning one in the first row, two in the second, three in the third row and four in the fourth-forming a triangle in the process. These are your "pins."
2. Lay out the pens so that they make "gutters" on each side of the playing surface, leading up to the pins. Place the pens on top of each other vertically, about one hand-width apart. This creates the "lane."
3. Place the quarter flat on the table top, aim at the pins and slide the quarter forward, attempting to knock down as many pins as possible. Each player gets two shots per turn, and 10 tries overall.
4. Clear out the pins that are knocked over after each shot, just like in a real game of bowling.
5. Use the pencil to keep score on the pad of paper as the game progresses. The winner is whomever has the highest score at the end.
