Instructions
Cook in a Fire Pit
1. Build the fire. You will need to build a roaring fire in order to grill food in a fire pit. Allow the fire to burn for at least an hour before using the pit to cook.
2. Prepare the food. Make ready of all the food that you wish to cook, including seasoning it.
3. Wrap the food in foil. Once your food is prepared wrap it tightly in at least two layers of tin foil wrap.
4. Place food in embers away from open flame. Find a spot in the fire pit that is ideal for grilling. You do not want open flame licking at your food. Rather, find a spot in the fire pit that has plenty of embers and hot coals and place your wrapped food in those coals.
5. Cook food the same amount of time that you normally would. Depending on what you are cooking, make sure that you keep track of cooking times. Once the time is halfway expired, use your tongs to flip the food over in the coals.
6. Serve and enjoy. Remove the food from the embers and allow it to cool for at least ten minutes before unwrapping. Use your oven mitts to remove the foil wrapping on the food, serve and enjoy.
