Many name badges include decorative borders.
Name badges help children identify each other at daycare and community centers, schools and group sporting activities. They also help adults remember children's names. You can make name badges yourself, but providing children with supplies and asking them to create their own badges can bring out their creativity and help them get to know one another. If you choose to do this, consider offering small prizes to the children who make the most creative name badges.
Instructions
1. Buy blank name badges with an adhesive backing, available at many office supply stores. Some badges include the text "Hello, My Name Is," while others are completely blank or only include a border.
2. Decorate the child's name badge with stickers. Write down the child's name, then place small stickers in a decorative pattern around the name. If the child has a special interest --- monkeys, flowers or sports, for example --- apply stickers that relate to that interest.
3. Write the child's name on the badge in glitter marker or glitter paint. You also can write the name in permanent marker, apply a thin layer of glue around the name and sprinkle on multicolored glitter.
4. Draw a small cartoon of the child's face on the badge next to his name. Black or colored permanent markers work best for this.
5. Print a digital photo of the child, cut it out and glue it on the name badge next to her name.
6. Design the badge in a word processing program and employ a fun or unusual font and several colors. You also can copy and paste clip art or illustrations onto the name tag. Make sure your name tag's size matches the label size you selected in the program. Place your name tag sheets into your printer and print as many badges as you need.
7. Cut fun or quirky letters from magazines to spell the child's name, then paste or tape them onto the name badge.
