Clean A Smith & Wesson Shotgun

Shotguns are used for a wide variety of activities, from skeet shooting competitions to bird hunting. Regardless of which activity your gun is used for, proper maintenance is a vital factor to maintain the performance and look of your weapon. Cleaning the shotgun is one aspect of proper maintenance. The specific cleaning procedures may vary slightly depending on the specific cleaning supplies you choose. It is important to clean your Smith & Wesson shotgun whenever it has been exposed to dust, water, sand or extreme humidity.

Instructions

1. Check the shotgun to make sure it is not loaded. Use the fitted brush that comes in your cleaning kit to remove any excess firing residue from the bore and chamber. This is accomplished by inserting the brush into the barrel of the gun to loosen any particles.

2. Use a non-abrasive cloth to clean the exterior of your shotgun. The cloth and cleaning agent should both be provided in your cleaning kit.

3. Apply a light coat of gun oil, also from your cleaning kit, to all of the internal and external metal parts.
