Decorate A Spongebob Room

Decorate your child's room in a Spongebob Squarepants theme.

When decorating your child's room, surprise him with a Spongebob theme he is sure to love. Created by Nickelodeon, Spongebob is a crazy cartoon character many little girls and boys love. The bright colors associated with this cartoon will delight your child and decorating a room with Spongebob and his friends Mr. Crab, Shirley and Patrick is an easy project for a family. Incorporate the theme in every element of the room's design to bring it together and create a personal haven for your child. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove the existing furniture, wall hangings, tapestry, curtains and upholstery from the room. Spread newspapers over the floors to catch paint drips. Cover trim and hardware with paint tape.

2. Paint the walls of the room blue or yellow, depending on personal preference. Spongbob is a bright yellow character, so paint the room yellow and paste murals of the cartoon characters, or paint it blue to depict the ocean they live in and paste murals. Whatever you choose, apply the paint with rollers and let one coat dry before applying another coat.

3. Apply the selected paint over trim, around door and window frames and other areas inaccessible with the rollers. Leave to dry and reapply another coat.

4. Stencil whimsical flowers and bubbles on a wall or draw them freehand. For each flower, draw a large circle surrounded by five smaller circles for petals. For bubbles, draw circles with a small comma shape in the inside to depict glare. Paint flowers blue, pink and yellow, the bubbles light blue and the comma shape white.

5. Paste murals of Spongebob Squarepants and his friends on another wall. Line the characters together or stick them randomly on the wall, near one another. If you are artistic, paint the characters freehand and color them. Also paint small- to medium-sized flowers and bubbles on the wall, around the characters and leave the paint to dry.

6. Spread Spongebob Squarepants bedding over the child's bed. Use theme-related curtains, cushion covers and rugs. Alternatively, use floor cushions and curtains in solid colors that match Spongebob Squarepants color theme, such as bright yellow and bright blue. For the rug, spread a circular brown rug to resemble a hamburger bun on the floor.

7. Place stuffed animals of Spongebob Squarepants and his friends on the shelf. Glue posters on boards or a small wall. Place yellow or blue lampshades over lamps and theme-related switch plate covers. Paste Spongebob stickers on the bed and other furniture, or paint each furniture piece yellow, blue and white so it blends with the theme.
