Personalize your welcome baskets for guests.
Giving out-of-town wedding guests a gift basket is a common nicety. It's gives guests a little thank you for traveling by providing them with small trinkets such as snacks, toiletries and if your budget allows, some gift certificates to restaurants or hotel amenities. To create a bathroom gift basket, purchase several common bath items and personalize the basket with a thank you card.
Instructions
1. Make a guest list. Note the guests that will be staying at your host hotel or villa and plan to have the baskets delivered before the guests arrive. Decide what your overall budget will be and divide by the number of guests so you have a set amount of money to spend per basket.
2. Purchase like items that can be evenly distributed among all the baskets as much as possible. Avoid customizing every basket if you're on a tight budget. See what discounts may be available to you for purchasing items in larger quantities depending on your basket count. Purchase items like candles, soaps, nuts, beverages and toiletries like lotion or a sewing kit. Add in your own items like custom coffee cups with your wedding date on them, sunglasses for a beach wedding or a light fleece blanket for a winter wedding. Include other customary items such as a local city guide, visitors' packet or magazine.
3. Buy baskets after you know how many items each one will include so that you don't buy a basket too large or too small. Pick up basket stuffing supplies like shredded paper to fill out the basket, if necessary. Begin placing the larger items in each of the baskets first; fill the remaining space with smaller items.
4. Wrap a clear plastic wrap or cellophane around each of your baskets and decorate them with a bow or colored ribbon. Write a personalized note to each guest welcoming and thanking him for coming to your wedding. Give baskets to the hotel staff to be placed in guests' rooms or given upon arrival at check-in.
