Create A Caribbean Flyer

If you are a travel agent or other business that seeks to highlight the many types of recreation a visitor can have by choosing to vacation in the Caribbean, then a promotional flyer is a great idea. The process for creating your own unique flyer design is a fairly straightforward one. By using your home or office computer, you can create a professional looking flyer that can catch the eye of potential customers. The following are steps you can take to create a Caribbean flyer to fit your specific needs.

Instructions

1. Brainstorm ideas and sketch out your ideas on paper. Make a list of all of the pertinent information that you need to include as content on your flyer. Decide on a theme and select any graphics you want to use. Determine if your flyer will contain information on one side or both and whether it will be folded. For example, you might want to include a series of Caribbean photos in a montage on one side with a slogan and your contact details at the bottom of the flyer, while on the other side is a list of individual activities, resorts, natural wonders and other places of interest. You might also wish to offer a more detailed list of amenities offered at various locations or restaurants that have received good reviews. If you need photos for your flyer, it is possible you will also need to hire a photographer, take the photos yourself or buy them online through a site like Photobucket. Another place to look for photos with Caribbean imagery is in public domain resources such as government sites.

2. Open a new document in Photoshop or a similar computer graphics program. Set the dimensions for your flyer's width and height and then set the resolution to 200 pixels. Create your flyer background using a transparent background, or a white background. If you intend to use a photo as a background, such as a sunlit beach, bring this photo into the program and add it as your background on the first layer.

Make sure the photo you use is the proper size for your flyer, since photos often lose quality when they are sized up. Fade your background graphic out to a degree so that the images and text on the layers above can be clearly seen. Next, add each new element to your design on a new layer. Elements can be text or other graphics including photos. Within each layer make all necessary changes to these elements using the various tools provided such as the paint tool, cloning tool and so on. Keep in mind that by using filters, you can change text and any graphics created to creatively alter these elements in a wide range of possibilities. Remember too that if you are printing on both sides of your flyer you will need to create two separate documents to be printed on both sides of your flyer paper. Once you have completed your flyer's design, save it as a jpeg, or png file. Check with your printer about their format requirements.

3. Choose a printer or print your flyer yourself. If you need to print a larger number of flyers, it might be a better choice in terms of time and money to have your flyers printed in bulk. Staples offers a printing service as do many other office supply stores. If, on the other hand, you choose to print your own flyers, you can purchase flyer printing paper in various colors to suit your particular requirements.
