Make A Pig Cooker Rotisserie

A rotisserie helps roast your pig evenly throughout.

Roasting a whole pig on a rotisserie makes for a cookout to remember. You and your guests can have the pleasure of watching it cook and crackle over the fire pit and smell the mouthwatering aroma of barbecued pork as you enjoy the fresh air on a spring or summer night. Anyone can buy a rotisserie, but for that extra homestyle touch, you can build your own pig rotisserie out of metal bars and a motor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Dig a fire pit in the ground where you want to build the pig rotisserie. Lay down rock or gravel around the fire pit area.

2. Weld one end of each 5-foot iron pipe into a "V" shape. Sharpen the ends of each pipe and drive the pipes at least 2 feet into the ground. These pipes will act as the support posts for your rotisserie spit.

3. Form two 90-degree angle bends on one end of the 6-foot iron bar using the scroll bender. This will act as the handle for the spit.

4. Weld at least two iron hooks into the spit to hold the hog securely as the spit rotates. You want the whole hog to rotate, not just the spit itself.

5. Install a small rotisserie motor on the end of the spit that has the handle. Rig the chain to the handle and the motor to create an automated rather than a hand-cranked rotisserie.
