Create Flyers For A New Business

Creating and distributing flyers for a new business is an effective way to get the company's name and mission out to the public. Flyers can be created in several ways, but among the most popular is by using computer software such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop or Apple's AppleWorks. Once the flyers are completed on your computer, they can be printed or emailed to potential customers.

Instructions

1. Open a new document in a word processing or art program, such as Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop. Add a border for the document. The border should have a simple design that reflects the nature of the business--perhaps bold lines for an entertainment company or a more elegant look for a legal firm. A bright design will draw the eye and attract attention, which is key to attracting customers to a new business.

2. Insert one to three images that are relevant to the business, such as a basketball, football and baseball if you're selling sports equipment. Don't crowd the document with large pictures, but make sure they're noticeable and can be easily recognized. For a business that fixes computers, a picture of a computer with a hammer next to it might relay the correct message.

3. Add text boxes to the document. The text boxes should display the basic information, such as what goods or services the business provides, location and contact information and prices. Make the text large enough to read without poring over the flyer and in an attractive font, such as Times New Roman. Add another text box to offer a coupon or other discount that will attract customers. Situate the coupon text at the bottom of the flyer so it can be removed easily by those who want to use it.

4. Save the document on your computer and email it or print it out. Print it at your home or business or take the original to a printing and copy store to make as many copies as you need. Either way, do it in color to make your flyers more attractive and easily noticed.
