Create A Tropical Flower Centerpiece

Day lily is a tropical flower.

A tropical flower centerpiece can be made for a wedding, party or home decoration. Tropical flowers include Amazon lilies, bitter gourd, blue passion flower, chrysanthemums, day lilies, anthuriums and orchids. The flowers are usually bright in color. Use any item that can hold something to house the floral arrangement, and include as many or as few flowers as you want in the centerpiece. Choose flowers that match your color scheme. The cost of the flowers depends on your location and the season. You can also use fake flowers to achieve the same look.

Instructions

1. Trim the bottom 1/4 inch of each red anthurium and orange or white orchid stem with scissors.

2. Hold four to six red anthuriums so the buds point in various directions.

3. Mix orange or white orchids between the anthuriums.

4. Add one or two fern fronds to opposite sides of the bouquet.

5. Hold onto the tropical flower arrangement just below the buds. Asking someone to do this works best.

6. Wrap green floral tape tightly around the stems. The tape will hold the arrangement together. Start the tape 2 or 3 inches down from the bottom of the buds.

7. Wrap a ribbon or raffia around the flowers. You can tie a bow around the stems or use the ribbon to cover up the tape. Raffia works well for bows. You can also wrap tulle or beaded strands around the stems or tie on sand dollars.

8. Place the tropical flower arrangement into the centerpiece container.

9. Accent the area around the centerpiece with tropical flower petals, cocktail umbrellas, seashells or leis.
