Begin Planning A Graduation Party

A party helps celebrate your graduation.

Graduation is an accomplishment that requires a celebration, whether you are graduating from high school or college. Years of hard work and perseverance culminate with graduation, and your friends and family likely want to celebrate the occasion with you. Planning the festivities ahead of time leads to a less stressful party, allowing you to relax on the big day. Begin planning for the party as soon as you drop the graduation invitations in the mail.

Instructions

1. Set a date and time for the party. Plan smaller, more formal parties for the evening after the graduation ceremony. Alternately, host a more casual, open house-style party the day after the party when everyone has a little more time to relax.

2. Reserve a location for the party. Host the party at home, a restaurant, at a hotel or at another party facility. Places book up quickly around graduation, so reserve the location as far in advance as possible.

3. Plan the theme you wish to use. Choose themes relating to your major or interests. Alternately, plan the theme to match available resources, such as hosting a Hawaiian luau party at a backyard pool. Use the theme as inspiration for all other party elements.

4. Write a menu for the event. Provide plenty of beverage choices for guests. Decide whether you want a full meal or finger foods and snacks. Alternately, arrange catering for the party,

5. Arrange two or three activities for the party. Arrange for outside entertainment, such as a band, or put together a slideshow or other display of the graduate's accomplishments. Choose activities that celebrate the graduate when possible.

6. Purchase decorations for the party, Use theme-appropriate decorations if you are using a theme. Otherwise, standard graduation d cor or decorations in the school colors suffice.
