The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are the biggest awards show of the year. An Oscar is the most prestigious award an actor can ever receive. It's a night of glamor, fun and friends. Host an Oscar party and invite your friends or family over to watch the show together as well as play some games and get all "glamed-up" yourselves. It's fun and easy to do. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Send out A-list invitations. Make or print these on gold paper or decorate with gold stars. Place in a red envelope. Specify that everyone dress up in formal attire as if they were going to the Oscars themselves. Have the party start at least an hour prior to the start of the televised awards.
2. Create a ballot for voting. List all the main categories and list the names of the nominees underneath. Create check boxes on the side of the nominees' names for your guests to select. Print out a ballot for each person attending.
3. Prepare appetizers and drinks for all the guests and have these out buffet style so everyone can help themselves. Roll out a red carpet at the entry to your home. Hire some kids or friends to take photos of everyone (like the paparazzi) as your guests arrive. Have everyone fill out a ballot when they come in and collect them prior to the start of the awards show.
4. Sit back and watch the show. During commercial breaks take turns competing for the best Oscar speech. Have one person stand up at a podium or table, hold a fake Oscar trophy and give their speech. At the end of the show vote on who gave the best and worst speeches.
5. Tally up the correct votes on each ballot. The person who got the most correct is the winner. Present the winner with a gift (something silly or movie-related). Thank everyone for coming and either continue the party with more food, drinks and movies or show everyone out.
