Know What To Insert With Wedding Invitations

Some wedding invitations require only a couple of inserts.

Wedding invitations may seem a bit intimidating, especially when you receive them from the printer and see all of the inserts. Each of the inserts serves a specific purpose, some of which may not apply to your wedding. Therefore, you must decide which ones you need to put into your invitation and which ones you can leave out. A simple wedding with no out-of-town guests will require fewer inserts than an elaborate destination wedding with a large guest list.

Instructions

1. Insert a reception card when you are inviting the recipient to the reception portion of the wedding. This card contains the information about the reception, including the location and the time. If this information is already listed on your invitation, this insert is not necessary.

2. Include a response card and envelope for those who will be attending the reception portion of your wedding. This card asks the recipient to let you know if they will be attending so you can plan ahead with the caterer and seating. Your response card may ask your guests to select an entree if you have choices.

3. Print out a map and directions to the church and reception for any out-of-town guests who are not familiar with the area. You do not need to include this insert if your guests know where the church and reception hall are.

4. Place a card detailing accommodation information for out-of-town guests. This should include the address and phone number for the preferred hotel, whether there is a block reserved for guests and what the deadline is, and rate information. You may also want to provide transportation information for these guests.

5. Create a list of other things to do in the area for guests who are coming from further away, especially if you have gaps in your schedule of events. This list allows out-of-town guests to keep themselves busy in between the ceremony and reception or during other gaps in the wedding action.
