Make A Baby Shower Registry

Baby registries let people know what types of items you'd like for your baby. They are very practical because, when followed, they help you avoid receiving multiples of the same items at your baby shower. Registries can also serve as a planning list as you prepare for what you need to buy for your upcoming arrival. Whatever you don't get as a shower gift can always be purchased at a later date, and it's nice to have a list all in one place. Making a baby registry is simple and fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Research baby items. Make a list of things you'll want and need. Some items to consider include a car seat, stroller, crib, diapers, bottles and safety equipment. You may want to read online reviews to see whether you have a preference for certain brands or models. It is a good idea to make a list of things in all different price ranges so all who want to buy you a gift can find something they can afford.

2. Visit a few stores and websites. While it's fine to have more than one registry, you might save your guests time if you can find most of the items you want at one store. Visit stores and sites to see which has the widest selection of items. You don't have to limit your search to baby stores; places such as Target, Amazon.com and JCPenney all have good selections of baby items.

3. Create the registry. If you've decided to register in person, bring your list of items to the guest services desk and ask for assistance. You will be given paperwork to fill out, a list of suggested items and a scanner to use in the store. A sales associate may or may not accompany you based on what you prefer. If you choose to register online, go to the website, sign up for a registry account, search for the items you'd like to receive and click on the "Add to Registry" button.

4. Tell people where you have registered. Some places give you registry cards to include with your baby shower invitation. Otherwise you can include the information on the invitation or purchase a separate coordinating insert.
