Make A Centerpiece For An Asianthemed Party

Cherry blossoms make a great Asian centerpiece.

If you've chosen an Asian theme for your party, you'll want centerpieces to match. Asian themes can be simple, beautiful and classic, adding Oriental touches to an elegant party. Fortunately you can make your own centerpieces instead of ordering pricey ones. Asian design focuses on simple lines and minimalistic designs; colors should be simple, often neutral and within the same color spectrum. Whether you're decorating for a wedding or simply planning a fun get-together or fancy dinner, create centerpieces that everyone will love.

Instructions

Candle Centerpiece

1. Create a runner out of smooth rocks down the center of each table. Place the rocks in two lines with a few inches in between. You can find rocks in varying colors at your local craft store.

2. Arrange three large candles with both Asian and American writing in the center of the table. For example, purchase candles that say "Happiness" or "Love" in English with the Asian symbol above it. These candles are often available in a specialty Asian shop or a local craft store. Choose candles of varying heights in either white or your wedding colors.

3. Place both opened and closed Asian fans around the base of the candles.

Dishware Centerpiece

4. Place several Asian takeout boxes and chopsticks in the center of the table. This is a great option if you're having a casual, midday party instead of a highly ornate affair. Alternatively, if you're having a more sophisticated party, use Asian dishware, including sake cups and rice bowls on bamboo mats.

5. Stack the takeout boxes in a creative manner - for example, you can place a few so they look like they're toppling off each other. Glue them together so they won't shift. If you're using dishware, stack three rice bowls on top of a large Asian plate or platter and place a few sake cups around the dishes.

6. Place a few colored, silver or gold faux fortune cookies around the base of centerpiece.

Cherry Blossom Centerpiece

7. Place a simple, sleek vase made of clear glass in the center of the table. Ensure that the vases are crystal clear; if they're not, spritz them with glass cleaner and wipe dry.

8. Pour clear or pastel-colored marbles in the bottom of each vase.

9. Put one faux cherry blossom branch in each vase, nestling it into the marbles so that it will stay in place. Asian decor is simple, so the minimal flowers on each branch will go well with an Asian theme.
