Make An Edible Makeupcase Cake

Create a makeup case cake for anyone who loves beauty products.


Craft a creative cake for a birthday party or shower celebration by making an edible makeup-case cake. Girls of all ages will love this cake design that only looks complex. Using fondant to cover the cake gives the illusion of a smooth fabric, but this cake coating is entirely edible. Instructions


1. Cut the cake in half into two semi-circles.


2. Cover the top of one of the semicircles with buttercream icing and stack the other cake on top.


3. Set the two stacked cakes upright on the flat side on top of a cake plate. Spread a thin layer of buttercream frosting over the rest of the cake.


4. Roll out colored fondant into an 8 inch wide circle 1/8 inch thick.


5. Drape the fondant over the iced cake, pressing it flat to smooth out any wrinkles.


6. Use the decorator icing tubes to make a logo from your favorite makeup brand on the side of the "makeup case."


7. Draw a line around the curved side of the cake with decorator icing to make the opening seam for the case.


8. Optionally roll and mold excess fondant of different colors into cylinders for lipstick or small disks shapes for compacts. Lay these on the cake plate around the makeup case cake.
